Eligibility Criteria

Master’s Degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% of Marks.

  • Physics: M.Sc. degree in Physics or closely related subject / Master’s degree in Technology with sufficient Physics background, in terms of courses necessary to carry out research in Physics with 55% marks or equivalent in Post Graduation.
  • English: Master’s Degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% of Marks.
  • Hindi: Eligibility: With at least 55% marks in Master’s degree in Hindi.
  • Telugu: Master’s degree in the subject concerned with at least 55% marks.
  • Applied Linguistics:
    • (a) PG in Linguistics / Applied Linguistics with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade; OR
    • (b) PG in allied subjects with a minimum of 60% marks/equivalent grade and (i) at least 12 credits in Linguistics/Applied Linguistics courses or (ii) a PG Diploma in Linguistics.
  • Translation Studies:
    • (a) PG in Translation Studies / Comparative Literature / Literature Studies (English or any other Indian Languages)/ Linguistics / Applied Linguistics / Philosophy with a minimum of 55% marks.
    • (b) PG in Folk Studies / Culture Studies / Gender Studies / Anthropology / Communication Studies / Pol. Science / Sociology / History with a minimum of 60% marks/equivalent grade.
  • History: With at least 55% marks or Equivalent Grade in M.A. in History OR Master’s in allied subjects from the Social Sciences with 55% marks.
  • Political Science: With at least 55% marks or Equivalent Grade in Master’s degree in Political Science/any Social Sciences /Humanities subjects.
  • Sociology: Master’s degree in Sociology or other Social Sciences including Cultural Studies with at least 55% marks.
  • Anthropology: M. A. in Anthropology with minimum 55% marks.
  • Education: Master’s in Education/Psychology/Philosophy/Sociology/Social Anthropology/Adult and Continuing Education/ Population Studies/Social Work/Women Studies/ English with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
  • Regional Studies: M.A. in any Social Science discipline with 55% or equivalent OR M.Sc. in Geography / Disaster Management / Environment Studies with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in the subject.
  • Folk Culture Studies: Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in any of the subjects in Social Sciences, Humanities, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, and Communication.
  • Social Exclusion & Inclusive Policy: A Master’s degree with any one of the following mentioned subjects with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade. (Subjects include: Anthropology, Economics, Education, History, Human Rights, etc.)
  • Indian Diaspora:
    • 55% marks or an equivalent grade in Master’s degree from any of the following disciplines in Social Sciences and Humanities
    • OR 4-year BA Hons with a Research degree from any of the following disciplines in Social Sciences and Humanities with 75% or equivalent.
  • Gender Studies: A Master’s degree with 55 % marks or equivalent grade in any discipline in Social Sciences and Humanities (or) a Master’s degree with 55 % marks or equivalent grade in Women’s/Gender Studies.
  • Economics: MA in Economics (with at least 55% marks or Equivalent Grade) OR Master’s degree in the allied subjects (Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, and Management or any of the Social Sciences) with at least 55% marks or Equivalent Grade.
  • Communication: Master’s degree in communication or a related discipline with at least 55% aggregate.
  • Optometry:
    • Master’s degree in Optometry, Vision Sciences, Integrated Masters in Optometry and Vision Sciences with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
    • OR Master’s degree in any stream of Health Sciences, with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
    • B.Sc. Optometry with 2 years of experience and other relevant qualifications (e.g., MBA/MPH, Clinical Research, M.Sc. in Optics) may also be eligible.
  • Public Health:
    • (a) Master’s Degree in Public Health with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
    • (b) Master’s in any Health Sciences, Indian Systems of Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Epidemiology, Psychology, Applied sciences, etc. with 55% and 2 years of public health experience.
    • (c) Master’s in Social Sciences, Health Management/Administration with 55% + 2 years of experience in Public Health.
  • Materials Engineering:
    • M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in Metallurgy, Mechanical (Production/Manufacturing), Materials Engineering, etc. with 55% marks.
    • OR Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology in related fields with 75% marks.
    • OR Master of Science in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, etc. with 55% marks.
  • Nanoscience and Technology: Same eligibility as Materials Engineering (see above).
  • Mathematics: With at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in Master’s degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
  • Applied Mathematics: With at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in Master’s degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
  • Computer Science:
    • Any NCRF level 6.5 or higher degree with a minimum of 60% marks in Computer Science/Engineering/Applications.
    • AND valid UGC-NET in Computer Science and Applications.
  • Electronics Science and Engineering:
    • Valid UGC/CSIR-NET in Electronics/Physical Sciences with either:
    • (a) B.E./B.Tech. with 75% or M.E./M.Tech. with 55% in relevant fields, OR
    • (b) M.Sc. with 55% in relevant electronics/physics areas.
  • Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences: Master’s or Integrated Master’s in Geology, Geophysics, Ocean/Atmospheric Sciences, or Meteorology with at least 55% marks.
  • Chemistry: M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry or allied subjects with at least 55% marks. (Allied: Physics, Materials Science, Life Sciences)

  • Cognitive Science: Valid CSIR-UGC NET / UGC NET scores in Psychology, Linguistics, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematics and Masters Degree with minimum of 55% in Neural and Cognitive Sciences, Neuroscience, Physics, Cognitive Science, or any branch of Life Sciences, like Zoology, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology. OR 75% in BTech in any branches of Electrical or Electronics engineering. OR 75% B.Tech Computer Science.
