Eligibility

  • A candidate who has been declared eligible in Category A/ Category B/ Category C in UGC-NET or equivalent examinations with a two-year (4 Semester) Master’s programme (after three/four-year Bachelor’s programme) in relevant / allied subjects with at least 55% marks in aggregate (50% marks or equivalent grade for SC, ST, OBC (NC Central List), DA & EWS). OR
  • A candidate who has been declared eligible in Category A/ Category B/ Category C in UGC-NET or equivalent examinations with one-year (2 semester) Master’s programme (after four-year Bachelor’s programme under NEP-2020) in relevant / allied subjects with at least 55% marks in aggregate / equivalent grade (50% marks or equivalent grade for SC, ST, OBC (NC-Central List), DA & EWS) OR
  • A candidate who has been declared eligible in Category A/ Category B/ Category C in UGC-NET or equivalent examinations with a four-year (8 Semesters) Bachelor’s Degree with Research with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 (75 %) in a point scale.
  • A candidate with qualifications like CSIR -NET / GATE / CEED/ ICMR-NET / DBT-NET / ICAR-NET etc. will be treated at par with the UGC NET for admission.
  • A candidate with a two-year (4 Semester) Master’s programme (after three/four years bachelor programme under NEP-2020) in the subjects in which UGC-NET is not conducted with at least 55 % marks in aggregate/equivalent grade (50% marks or equivalent grade for SC, ST, OBC (NC-Central List), DA & EWS).
  • Any international candidate holding a Master’s Degree (under 3+2 scheme) with at least 55% marks in aggregate / equivalent grade in relevant subject from a foreign educational institution accredited by an approved Assessment and Accreditation Agency established or incorporated under a law in its home country.

Selection Process

  • All the applications received online within the prescribed date shall be scrutinized by a duly constituted Working Committee for Admission, 2025 (WCA). The list of candidates shortlisted based on the NET Score and the marks / CGPA obtained in the qualifying examination shall be uploaded on University website and shall be also displayed on departmental notice boards. No individual communication shall be made in this regard.
  • Interview is compulsory for admission to Ph.D programme. 30 % weightage is given for Interview and 70% weightage is given for UGC-NET score including CSIR -NET / GATE / CEED/ ICMR-NET / DBT-NET/ ICAR-NET etc.
  • The final merit list shall be prepared by taking the marks / score obtained in NET score or equivalent examinations and the interview.
  • Both written and interview will be conducted for candidates belonging to Non-NET subjects. The total marks allocated for Entrance Test will be 100 marks out of which 70 marks is allocated for the written entrance test and 30 marks for the Interview. Candidate must secure at least 50% marks in the written test (45% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy)/ DA/EWS or any other category as may be notified by the Government of India from time to time) in order to qualify for the interview.
  • The concerned department may decide the number of eligible candidates to be called for the interview based on the merit list and number of Ph.D. seats available.
  • Interview shall focus upon research interest of the candidate and contribution to additional / new knowledge.

  • A Candidate may apply for registration / counseling in maximum three Ph.D subjects / department provided that s/he fulfills minimum eligibility conditions. Such candidates may apply separately for each programme and pay application fee separately. The application fee once paid will not be refunded.
