Maulana Azad National Urdu University PhD Admission 2025-26

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Hyderabad invites online applications for admission into PhD programs for 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

• Urdu as a subject/language or as a Medium in 10th/12th /Graduation level or equivalent Madrasa courses with Urdu as medium of Instruction approved by MANUU. Check subject wise criteria for Urdu exemption if any.
• Candidates who have completed a four-semester/two-years Master’s degree programme after a
  • a) 3-year Bachelor’s degree Programme or
  • b) Has qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or
  • c) its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or
  • d) authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or
  • e) assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) /Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the GoI from time to time.

Selection Process

• The University shall admit students who qualify for scholarship (i.e JRF) in UGC-NET/ UGCCSIR-NET/GATE/CEED and similar National Level Tests based on interview only.
• The JRF-qualified students are admitted into the Ph.D. programme based on an interview as per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.
• For students who qualify in Categories 2 and 3, 70% weightage will be given for test scores and 30% weightage for the interview for admission to Ph.D. programmes.
• The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce. The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in Categories 2 and 3 will be valid for a period of one year for admission to Ph.D.
• The University shall also admit students through an Entrance Test.
  • The medium of Entrance examination shall be Urdu, except in case of Ph.D. programmes in Language disciplines.
  • Students who have secured 50% marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview, provided that for the selection of candidates based on the entrance test conducted by the University and weightage of 70% for the entrance test and 30% for the performance in the interview/vivavoce shall be given.
  • The candidate exempted from entrance test (NET qualified candidates- Category 1, 2, 3), if desirous of scoring more marks may appear in the MANUU Ph.D. entrance test.

NET Category 

• Category-1: Award of JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor – Eligible for JRF and PhD
• Category-2: Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. – Eligible for PhD
• Category-3: Admission to Ph.D. only – Eligible for PhD

Note

• The Interviews for Ph.D. Admissions will be held in Online Mode only.
• The Certificates of Ph.D. candidates called for interview will be verified online and in person when they attend the course work.
• The list of the selected candidates will be displayed for Ph.D. on MANUU website and the selected candidates can pay their fees online on the notified dates and obtain an online confirmation of provisional admission.
• The candidates have to report at the respective Department/Satellite Campus as per the schedule notified.
