The Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), an autonomous centre of UGC, invites applications for PhD Admission 2026.

About IUAC

IUAC provides internationally competitive research facilities using accelerator systems for research in experimental nuclear physics, materials science, atomic and molecular physics, accelerator physics, accelerator mass spectrometry, radiation biology, and radiation physics.

IUAC PhD Programs

IUAC Offers Ph. D. programme in ion-beam/accelerator based experimental research in following areas: –

• Geo-chronology/ Accelerator Science
• Material Science
• Nuclear Physics

Important points

• Normal relaxation to the eligibility criteria will be applicable as per UGC guidelines.
• The Selected students will be required to join the Ph.D. programme within one week of announcement of result. They will be registered for Ph.D. with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
• All students will be required to undergo the course work for two semesters upon joining as per UGC norms.
• The selected students will be provided with hostel accommodation.

Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must have Master’s Degree (Five years degree after + 2 level) in Physics /Applied Physics.
• The applicants must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in Master’s Degree.
• The applicants must have studied physics and mathematics in their Bachelor’s.
• The applicants must have qualified CSIR-UGC NET-JRF [June 2024 onwards] in Physical Sciences or other equivalent National-level tests.

Selection Procedure

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Written Test/ Interview. Date and time will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates.

• Merely fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview.

• Certificate of JRF-NET
• Degree and Marksheets for each year/semester for Bachelors and Masters
• Degree and Marksheets for Class 10 and 12
• issued Photo Identity Proof
• Certificate of Date of Birth (issued by Municipality or Matriculation/High School/SSC certificate where date of birth is mentioned)
• NOC from current employer if applicable. Those who are unable to submit ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC) should submit an undertaking with their application that the NOC would be submitted at the time of interview.
• Other documents you wish to provide.
