Central University of Kerala PhD Admission 2025-26

Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod, Kerala invites online application for PhD admission for the academic session 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who have completed
  • Two year/four semester Masters Degree after a three year Bachelor Programme, with a minimum of 55% marks aggregate or equivalent grade. OR
  • One year/two semester Masters Degree after a four year Bachelor Programme, with a minimum of 55% marks aggregate or equivalent grade. OR
  • Four year Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. OR
  • M.Phil. Degree with 55% of marks or its equivalent grade. OR
  • Candidates holding an equivalent qualification from an accredited/recognized foreign educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for candidates who belong to SCIST/OBC (non-creamy Layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

AND

Candidates who are offered/qualified Junior Research Fellowship of UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests based on an interview.

NET Score in the following categories as per the UGC Public Notice No. F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee) 2024(NET) / 140648 dated 27.03.2024.

1. Admission to Ph.D without JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor
2. Admission to Ph.D programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.

The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in (1) & (2) will be valid for a period of one year for admission to Ph.D.

Selection Process

• Admission to the Ph.D. programme at the Central University of Kerala shall be based on the criteria notified by the University, in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), other regulatory bodies, and the reservation policies of the Government of India from time to time.
• Candidates are free to contact prospective supervisors in the Department concerned.
• The DRC shall decide the number of eligible candidates to be called for interview based on the number of Ph.D. seats available.
• All eligible candidates shall be required to undergo the interview/ viva-voce for assessing the candidate about domain knowledge, subject knowledge, communication skills, and motivation for research.
• The DRC shall have the power to allot candidates among the eligible supervisors having regard to the number of vacancies, area of research suggested by the candidates, specializations of the supervisors and also based on the reservation rules prescribed by the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Rules Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2022 and also following reservation policy of the Government of India.
• The decision of concerned Departmental Research Committee (DRC) on admission to the Ph.D programme shall be final.
