Central University of Jharkhand PhD Admission 2025-26 (Entrance Based)

The Central University of Jharkhand invites online application from motivated and eligible candidates for admission to its Ph.D. programme against the vacant seats through CUJ Research Entrance Test (CUJ-RET) for the academic year 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s degree or qualification declared equivalent to master degree / M.Phil. in concerned or relevant subjects (see program specific eligibility criteria in table given below) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to access, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade will be allowed for those belonging or SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently abled and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories. The relaxation in marks is subject to decisions made by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, from time to time.

Selection Criteria

Merit List: The merit list for Ph.D. admission 2025-26 shall be prepared based on the joint merit of the following components, with the final selection determined by their total percentile/score out of 100.

• Score of CUJ-RET: 70 %
• Interview: 30 %

Minimum Qualifying cut-off Marks for admission: The minimum qualifying marks shall be 50% for General category candidates and 45% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwD categories candidates of both components in aggregate.

CUJ Research Entrance Test (CUJ-RET)

• The test shall consist of 100 questions.
• 50 questions will be related to Research Methodology, and the remaining 50 questions will pertain to post-graduate level of the concerned Ph.D. subject.
• Overall, the test will assess the candidate’s reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude, general knowledge, language proficiency and subject-specific knowledge.
