Eligibility Criteria
- A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree/Acharya/M.A. (Sanskrit) in the relevant subject after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme (or)
A 2-year/4-semester master’s degree/ Acharya/M.A. (Sanskrit)/ programme after a 3-year/6-semester bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed
Any equivalent post-graduate degree/title recognized by the National Sanskrit University, Tirupati. (or)
equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution. - Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed and for Vidyavaridhi in Education –
- A 2-year/4-semester master’s degree Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.in Sanskrit) programme after a 2-year/4-semester bachelor’s degree programme Shiksha Shastri (B.Ed.) or
- A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.in Sanskrit) programme after a 1-year/2-semester bachelor’s degree programme Shiksha Shastri (B.Ed.) or
- A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree Acharya along with B.Ed. with Sanskrit Methodology and M.A. in Education.

A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree M.A in Sanskrit along with Shiksha Shastri and M.A in Education qualification declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding regulatory body, with at least 55% Marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. - A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently-able, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
- Those who qualify UGC JRF/NET in 25 OR 73 CODE are eligible to get admission only in that particular Shastra/Research & Publications, subject to the fulfilling of all other eligibility criteria as per the regulations and the outcome of interview performance and over-all Rank.
- Those who qualify UGC JRF/NET in 103 CODE are eligible to get admission only in that particular Indian Knowledge Systems, subject to the fulfilling of all other eligibility criteria as per the regulations and the outcome of interview performance and over-all Rank
- Those who qualify UGC JRF/NET in 09 CODE are eligible to get admission only in that particular Sanskrit Education, subject to the fulfilling of all other eligibility criteria as per the regulations and the outcome of interview performance and over-all Rank
- Further, the JRF/NET qualified candidates in General Sanskrit 25 Code/Traditional Shastra Subjects73 CODE/Education09 Code/IKS103 Code should have possessed 16 credits/obtained equivalent marks in each semester or should have possessed 32 credits/obtained equivalent marks per year in annual pattern in that particular Shastra/Education/Research & Publications/IKS in which the candidate has applied for the Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) Admission.

Selection Process
- The University shall decide the number of eligible students to be called for an interview based on the number of Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) seats available.
- Seats will be given on the merit basis as per the Regulations of the UGC /National Sanskrit University, Tirupati.
- The JRF-qualified students are admitted into the Ph.D. programme based on an interview as per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations. 2022.
- The selection of candidates based on the UGC NET along with percentile who qualify in Categories 2 and 3, 70% of weightage will be given for test score and 30% weightage for interview for admission to Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) programme. The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva-voce.
- The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in the categories 2 and 3 will be valid a period of one year for admission into Ph.D.
