Eligibility Criteria
The general requirement is a Master’s degree from a recognized Indian or foreign University with a minimum of 55% marks, or 50% for SC/ST/ OBC(NCL)/PWD candidates.

Selection Process
National Eligibility Test (NET) score can be used for admission to Ph.D. programs in place of entrance tests conducted by the different Universities/HEIs.
The NET candidates will be declared eligible in three categories:
- Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.
Evaluation and Performance
The performance of a candidate will be evaluated as under:
A. For UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT-JRF, Qualified Candidates:
- Fixed weightage for JRF qualification: 70%
- Interview: 30%
B. The students who qualify in Categories 2 and 3 (UGC/CSIR), 70% weightage will be given for test scores 30% weightage for the interview for admission to Ph.D. program. A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 40% marks in the interview to be eligible for admission. The same criteria for evaluation shall be followed for GATE/GPAT/DBT or any other equivalent national level test qualified candidates. The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the Interview provided the candidate secures >40% marks in the interview.
C. NET qualified candidates prior to UGC notification dated 27.03.2024 shall be given 50 marks and remaining 20 marks based on Masters percentage.
