Central University of Kerala PhD Admission 2026-27

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme of Central University of Kerala for the academic year 2026-27. The Ph.D. Programme shall be offered in Full-Time and Part-Time modes, subject to the provisions of the Central University of Kerala Regulations for the Award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and the applicable UGC Regulations, notifications and guidelines in force.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who have completed
  • Two year/four semester Masters Degree after a three year Bachelor Programme, with a minimum of 55% marks aggregate or equivalent grade. OR
  • One year/two semester Masters Degree after a four year Bachelor Programme, with a minimum of 55% marks aggregate or equivalent grade. OR
  • Four year Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. OR
  • M.Phil. Degree with 55% of marks or its equivalent grade. OR
  • Candidates holding an equivalent qualification from an accredited/recognized foreign educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for candidates who belong to SCIST/OBC (non-creamy Layer) /Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

AND

Candidates who are offered/qualified for: Junior Research Fellowship of UGC/CSIR/GATE and similar national-level fellowships/tests based on an interview, as applicable.
Or

NET score in the following categories as per UGC Public Notice No. F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee) 2024(NET)/140648 dated 27.03.2024:

• (i) Eligible for admission to Ph.D. with JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor;
• (ii) Eligible for admission to Ph.D. without JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor;
• (iii) Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.

The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in (1) & (2) will be valid for a period of one year for admission to Ph.D.

Selection Process

• Admission to the Ph.D. programme at the Central University of Kerala shall be based on the criteria notified by the University, in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), other regulatory bodies, and the reservation policies of the Government of India from time to time.
• There shall be an interview for admission to the Ph.D. programme. Every applicant called for interview shall submit and present a research proposal before the concerned Faculty Council/Departmental Research Committee.
• Candidates admitted under both Full-Time and Part-Time modes shall be required to fulfil the academic, coursework, research, progress, comprehensive examination and other requirements prescribed under the applicable Ph.D. Regulations of the University.
