Eligibility Criteria

  • Based on the scores obtained in NET, the candidates will be eligible in three categories.
    • Category-1: Award of JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor
    • Category-2: Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.
    • Category-3: Admission to Ph.D. Only
  • For admission under Category 2 and 3, qualifying in UGC-NET /UGC- CSIR–June-2024 / December- 2024 / June-2025 cycle and similar National level tests /GATE /GPAT as per their validity shall be the eligibility criteria for applying.
  • Those students who have cleared only NET prior to June-2024 are not eligible to apply for any of the Ph.D. programmes.
  • Candidates applying in Ph.D. in Pharmacy shall have valid score card of GPAT.

Educational Qualification

  • Bioinformatics: Master’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Computer Science / Information Technology / Agricultural Science / Pharmaceutical Science / Veterinary Science / Medical Science with 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates. Preference is given to candidates with a Master’s in Bioinformatics or with a specialization in Bioinformatics.
  • Biotechnology: Master’s degree in Biotechnology / Pharmaceuticals Science / Medical Science / Agricultural Science / Chemistry / Physics / any branch of Life Science (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioscience, Environmental Science / Zoology / Botany) with a minimum of 55% for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Life Science: Master’s degree in any branch of Life Science (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioscience, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science / Plant Science, Animal Science / Veterinary Science / Medical Science) with a minimum of 55% for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Environmental Science: M.Sc. / M.Sc.(Tech) / M.Tech. in Geophysics / Atmospheric Science / Meteorology / Environmental Science / Biotechnology / Zoology / Botany / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Biodiversity / Conservation Biology / Environmental Biotechnology / Environmental Chemistry / Environmental Engineering with 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Psychology: Master’s degree in Psychology with a minimum of 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Law: A minimum of 55% marks in LLM for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Mathematics: Master Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Statistics: Master Degree with at least 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates in Statistics / Applied Statistics / Agricultural Statistics / Health statistics / Biostatistics / Operation Research / Population sciences / economics, with at least one paper of statistics studied in the master’s program.
  • Computer Sciences: Master’s Degree in Computer Science / MCA / Equivalent with a minimum of 55% for Unreserved candidates. A relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates, bringing the minimum to 50%.
  • Commerce: Master Degree in Commerce / Management with 55% marks in aggregate for Unreserved candidates. A relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates, bringing the minimum to 50%.

  • History: Master Degree in History with at least 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • Geology: M.Sc. or M.Sc. (Tech) in Geology, M. Tech. Applied Geology & M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technology, or P.G. pertaining inter- & intra-disciplinary subject with 55% in aggregates for Unreserved candidates. A relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST /OBC (NCL)/ Differently-abled candidates.
  • Pharmacy: Master Degree with at least 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (NCL) / differently disabled candidates in Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Drug Regulatory Affair, Clinical Research, Clinical Pharmacology, or Phytochemistry.
  • Physical Education: Master Degree with at least 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (NCL) / differently disabled candidates in any one of these allied subjects: Yog / Yoga, Sports Psychology / Phycology, Kinesiology & Sports Biomechanics, Sports Physiology, Test Measurement & Evaluation, Kinanthropometry, Historical aspects of Physical Education, Sports Management, or Health Education.

  • Journalism & Mass Communication: M.A. / M.Sc. in Mass Communication & Journalism or any related subject with 55% marks for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.
  • English: A minimum of 55% marks in M.A. English (Literature / Linguistics) for Unreserved candidates and 50% for SC/ST /OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently disabled candidates.

Selection Process

  • Candidates who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET /UGC-CSIR NET /GATE /GPAT /CEED and similar National level tests as per their validity shall be eligible for admission to the PhD Programme based on an interview only as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022. The interview component carries 100% weightage.
  • For candidates who qualify in Categories 2 and 3, 70% weightage will be given for test scores and 30% weightage for the interview for admission to Ph.D. programme. The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the Interview.
  • Interview shall be conducted only of those eligible candidates who have submitted the online application form and shortlisted for interview. The interview will be conducted in the respective Departments of the CUSB.

Application Process

  • Desirous candidates who fulfils the eligibility criteria as prescribed below may apply online through SMARTH portal link https://cusbadm.samarth.edu.in
  • Candidates are required to upload recent passport size photograph, scanned signature and scanned copies of the supporting documents.
  • Soon after submission of online application, the candidates should take a print-out of the application form and at the time of Interview, she/he shall be required to produce the same along with supporting documents for verification.
  • Read instruction given there carefully before filling application form.
  • Candidates working in PSU / Govt. Sector shall be required to forward their application through proper channel or submit NOC (No Objection Certificate) from their present employer at the time of interview (if selected for admission).
