Eligibility Criteria
- A 1-year/ 2-semester Master’s degree programme after a 4-year/ 8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/ 4-semester Master’s degree programme after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s degree in a relevant/allied subject as defined by BSD and approved by BSS with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. Or
- An equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institution. Or
- A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
- An MTech./ME/MS in Engineering with at least 60% in aggregate or BE/B Tech with at least 80% marks and a valid GATE Score in a relevant/ allied subject from a recognized institution by the regulatory body of this University or an equivalent degree from any educational institutions as defined by the BSD and approved by the BSS.
- A LLM/MS/MD/MDS/MSc Nursing degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized institution by the regulatory body of this University or an equivalent degree from any educational institution approved by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency. Or
- An M.Phil. degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade or an equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution.
- Eligibility marks for the application mentioned above shall have a relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade shall be given to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD/EWS and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
Admission Process
- Admission to the Ph.D. Programmes shall be made on the basis of the scores/marks obtained by the candidates in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) provided the candidates hold certificates for any one of the following categories in the NET:
- Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.
- The final selection of candidates shall be made based on the NET scores/marks and their performance in the interview arranged for the purpose by the University subject to the following condition:
- Candidates shall be given 70% weightage for NET scores/marks and 30% weightage to the performance in the interview for admission to Ph.D. programmes. The interview shall carry 50 marks consisting of two components, viz., a presentation on a research proposal of their choices (20 marks) and a personal interview (30 marks).
- Candidates in respect of Engineering shall be selected based on their performance in the Qualifying Entrance Test (QET) followed by a Personal Interview (PI). However, candidates with UGC-NET /UGC-CSIR NET /UGC-JRF /SLET/GATE or any similar national-level test are exempted from appearing in the QET but will have to appear for the PI conducted by the concerned department.
- For Medical Sciences candidates, there shall be a Qualifying Entrance Test (QET) of 2 hours duration, which will be conducted by the University or the Institute assigned by the University. The syllabus of the QET shall be the same as that prescribed for the PG programmes of the University. The question paper shall carry 100 marks and shall consist of 50 multiple-choice questions.
- A candidate who is already registered as a Ph.D. scholar in some other Universities/Institutions, if his/her supervisor joins this University, shall be required to work under the same supervisor and governed by all provisions of this Regulation except exemption from undergoing the Ph.D. Course Work. No objection certificate from the earlier University/Institution must be submitted.
- In case of relocation of a female Ph.D. scholar due to marriage or otherwise, the research data shall be allowed to be transferred to the Higher Educational Institution to which the scholar intends to relocate, provided all the other conditions in these Regulations are followed, and the research work does not pertain to a project sanctioned to the parent Institution/Supervisor by any funding agency. Such scholar shall, however, give due credit to the parent institution and the supervisor for the part of research already undertaken.

- An application fee of Rs. 500/- and Rs.300/- for ST/SC/PWD candidates has to be paid at the same application portal.
