Eligibility
- Indian Nationals of at least 20 years of age as on 31.08.2025 are eligible to apply for the examination. No relaxation is permissible regarding the minimum age limit.
- Candidates with Master’s degree in concerned/related subjects from a recognized University with OGPA of 6.50/10.00, 3.25/5.00, 2.60/4.00 are eligible for admission to the Doctoral programmes under General/OBC(NCL)/EWS category. SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender category candidates with OGPA of 5.50/10.00, 2.75/5.00, 2.20/4.00 in the Master’s degree shall be eligible for admission. In case where Grade Points are not awarded, only marks are awarded, the candidates must have secured at least 60% marks for General/OBC(NCL)/EWS category and 50% marks for SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender category. The candidates who have passed with 5 years’ integrated M.Sc. degree programmes are not eligible for admission in any of the above Ph.D. disciplines.
- Eligibility qualification at Master’s Level for Ph.D. admission in different Subjects/Disciplines is appended at ANNEURE – I.
- For in-service candidates also, qualifications remain same for respective categories. At least 1(one) supernumerary seat in each discipline in the faculty shall be created for in-service candidate, if candidates are available. Separate merit shall be prepared for In-service candidate.
- The candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Third Gender categories should produce original certificate issued by the competent authority in support of their claim without which claim for reserved seats will not be entertained.
- Candidates from Govt. Departments/SAUs and other Organizations are required to submit his/her application through the concerned Head of the Institution/Department/ Organization, failing which the candidature will not be considered.
- The candidates seeking admission for Ph.D. programmes in this University as sponsored candidates should be on deputation terms/study leave.
Reservation:
15%, 7.5%, 27%, 10% and 5% seats will be reserved for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD as per the guidelines of Govt. of India. The reservation between SC and ST is interchangeable i.e. if sufficient numbers of candidates are not available to fill up the seats reserved for SC candidates, seat(s) can be filled up from among suitable ST candidates and vice-versa. If the University does not find the candidate from OBC category, the OBC seats shall be converted to Unreserved category seats.
Selection Process
- The selection of candidates will be purely based on the marks scored in the Entrance Examination.
- Entrance Exam & Counseling for all the Ph.D. Programmes will be held at College of Post Graduate Studies in Agril. Sciences, Barapani, Meghalaya.
Application Process
- Candidates should apply only through “Online” on the website https://www.cau.ac.in. or may directly access https://admission.cau.ac.in Application Form other than online mode will not be accepted in any case.
- Candidate applying for Ph.D (Agri.) programme should submit a single application for the 2 (two) constituent Colleges as the choice of College & Discipline will be the option of the student as per Merit in the written examination.
- Candidate applying for Ph.D. (Hort.) programme should submit a single application for the 2 (two) constituent Colleges as the choice of College & Discipline will be the option of the student as per Merit in the written examination.
- Candidates from the Govt. Departments/Organizations, if selected for admission, should submit NOC from the Head of Department concerned at the time of admission, failing which the candidature will not be considered.
