Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who have completed: A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme, or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
- In consonance with the recommendation of the NEP-2020, a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme (Honours/ Honours with Research) should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. Any issue arising regarding eligibility, shall be resolved on its merit by the Admissions Committee in consultation with the Equivalence Committee and approval of the Competent Authority.
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time.
Application Process
- Candidates can apply through the official website of Central University of Haryana (cuh.ac.in).
- Those candidates who are interested in applying for more than one Ph.D. Programme, separate online applications are required for each Ph.D. Programme. Please note that separate payment is required for each individual online application.
- Candidates must provide a valid e-mail ID, mobile number and upload readable soft copies of the required documents.
- Candidate must ensure that mobile no and e-mail ID provided by him/her are valid and are active during the admission process. The mobile no and the e mail ID must be his/her own or of the immediate family members/Guardians.
- Candidate is advised to complete the registration process as per the schedule notified on the University website.
- Candidate who has not registered online himself/herself for Admission in CUH will not be considered for admission at any subsequent stages of admission process.
- After successful submission of online application and payment thereon, the candidates should take a print-out of the application form. This print out along with all necessary supporting self-attested copies of the documents (Along with the Original documents) shall be required to be produced at the time of Interview/document verification.
Selection Process
- Central University of Haryana will not conduct any separate Entrance Test (Except for the programmes where NET is not conducted by UGC/NTA) for admission to Ph.D. programmes & the NET score will be used in place of Entrance Test.
- The admission in Ph.D. programmes will be based on the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) as per the UGC Public Notice No.F.4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024 (NET)/140648, dated March 27, 2024. The result categories for the candidates are as follows:
- Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Note-1: The candidates under Category-2 & 3 must have the National Level Qualified Examination Certificate issued on or after May 01, 2024.
- Apart from this, for the following Ph.D. programmes where NET is not conducted by the UGC/CSIR, University will conduct its own entrance test:
- Ph.D. in Hotel Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- The admission shall be based on the performance of the eligible candidates in the interview/viva-voce to be conducted organised by the Department concerned where the candidates shall be required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Departmental Research Committee.
Merit List
- Provided that for selection of candidates, a weightage of 70% to the entrance test score and 30% to the performance in the Interview/ viva-voce shall be given. Students securing 50% marks in the entrance test shall be eligible to be called for the interview, in the ratio of 1:5 (Five students against one seat in respective category), based on merit.
- A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
- Provided further that the candidates who have qualified the UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR-NET (including JRF)/GPAT/GATE/CEED or passed M.Phil. Programme with course work recognised by the U.G.C., as per the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009/2016, as amended from time to time, shall be exempted from the Entrance Test and shall be eligible for appearing in the Interview/ Viva-Voce to be conducted by the respective DRC.
- If the seats allotted for SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layer)/Differently-Abled categories remain unfilled, the University shall launch a Special Admission Drive, for that particular category within one month from the date of closure of admissions of General Category. The University will devise its own admission procedure, along with eligibility conditions to ensure that most of the seats under these categories are filled.
Entrance Examination
- Central University of Haryana shall conduct the Entrance examination for admission in the following Ph.D. programmes, where UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR-NET is not conducted, as per the Activity Schedule:
- PhD (Hotel Management)
- PhD (Civil Engineering)
- PhD (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
- PhD (Electrical Engineering)
- PhD (Computer Science and Engineering)
- Entrance Examination is qualifying with qualifying marks as 50%. A relaxation of 5% of marks (from 50% to 45%) in Entrance Examination shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/Differently-abled category candidates.
- Except for the above five (05) programmes, no entrance exam will be conducted. The admission shall be based on the performance of the qualified candidates in the interview/viva-voce/combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce.
Interview
The following categories of candidates will be called for interview as per the details below:
- All Candidates having NET Certificate in Category-1 (Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor) & Candidates who have qualified GPAT/GATE/CEED or passed M.Phil. Programme with course work recognised by the U.G.C., shall be will be called for interview.
- Candidates having NET Certificate in Category-2 (Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor) & Category-3 (Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor), shall be called for interview on merit basis, as per the schedule in the ratio 1:5 against each seat for which admission is sought.
- The Departments where UGC-NET/CSIR-UGC-NET is not conducted, candidates having qualified the Entrance Examination conducted by the University, shall be called for interview on merit basis, as per the schedule in the ratio 1:5 against each seat for which admission is sought.
- All the candidates scoring marks equal to the last shortlisted candidate shall also be called for interview.
The admission shall be based on the performance of the qualified candidates in the interview/viva-voce to be organised by the Department concerned where the candidates shall be required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Departmental Research Committee.
Assessment Criteria
- For candidates with a NET Certificate (Category-1), GPAT, GATE, CEED, or a passed M.Phil. program with coursework recognized by the UGC
- Interview: 100% Weightage
- Candidates with a NET Score from Category-2 or 3
- NET Score: 70% Weightage
