Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Golaghat, Assam invites online application for PhD admission for the academic session 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

• Humanities, Social Sciences, Management
  • Post Graduate degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed (A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST category)
• Engineering and Technology
  • M.Tech. in Computer Science/ I.T./ Electronics/MCA/M.Sc. in Computer Science/ I.T. OR
  • B.E./B.Tech in CSE/IT or relevant discipline with 75% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPА with a valid GATE Score.

Eligibility for Part-time PhD

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria and the conditions of selection procedure mentioned in A and B respectively, the candidates applied for part-time PhD programme must have the work experience as mentioned below:

• Minimum five years of experience in any of the following:
  • Teaching,
  • Research,
  • Industry,
  • Any other relevant work experience
• The minimum five years of experience can be including of the types of work experience mentioned above.

Selection Procedure

• The JRF qualified candidates (Category-1) and candidates with GATE/GMAT/CAT/CMAT shall be considered for admission based on the personal interview, as per the UGC (Minimum standards and procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2022.
• For the candidates who have qualified in Category-2 (i.e. qualified for Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.) and Category-3 (i.e. qualified for admission to Ph.D. only) based on valid NET score, 70% weightage will be given for NET scores and 30% weightage for interview. The admissions will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the interview marks (As per UGC notification No.F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024(NET)/140648 dated March 27, 2024)
• All other candidates shall be selected through an entrance examination (BSSRVPAT-2025) conducted at Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Golaghat, Assam. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. Students who have secured 50% marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview. Provided that for the selection of candidates based on the entrance test conducted, a weightage of 70% for the entrance test and 30% for the performance in the interview/viva- voce shall be given.
• The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in Categories 2 and 3 will be valid for a period of one year for admission to Ph.D. (As per UGC notification No.F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024(NET)/140648 dated March 27, 2024)
• The written examination (BSSRVPAT-2025) shall be of descriptive or objective type or both based on the nature of the subject.

The NET candidates will be declared eligible in three categories:

• Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
• Category-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.
• Category-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.
