Vidyasagar University PhD Admission 2024-25

Vidyasagar University, Paschim Midnapore, West Bengal invites online application for PhD admission for the academic session 2024-25.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from the eligible intending candidates who have qualified the UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/ SET/CEED/regular M.Tech or any other examinations, considered equivalent by the Research Studies of Vidyasagar University and also the candidates those who qualified the Vidyasagar University RET (Research Eligibility Test), 2023-2024.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Ph.D. Programme:

• Candidate who has completed a 1-year/2-semester Master’s Degree after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s Degree; or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s Degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree; or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s Degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body shall be eligible for admission. The candidate has to obtain at least 55% marks in the General Category and 50% marks in the SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/Persons with Disabilities, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s Degree (Honours with Research) should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale.

However, the following provisions are to be noted:

• Application of the candidates failing to fulfill minimum eligibility criteria of admission will be rejected;
• the candidate is not currently admitted as a student in any full-time course of studies or registered for doing Ph.D. in any university;
• Selection of candidates for admission into the Ph.D. Programme will be made through an interview to be conducted by the University.
• The OBC-A and OBC-B categories of candidates will be as per the criteria stated herein above may apply for the said Ph.D. programme but their admission will be taken by the University subject to the verdict of the Hon’ble Court. The OBC candidates must have to produce the non-creamy layer (NCL) Certificate valid for one year and the valid OBC certificate at the time of submission of application.

• The candidates will have to fill in the Application Form through the online portal of the University website http://vidyasagar.ac.in
• After successful completion of all the steps (e.g. filling in the personal details, academic details, uploading photo and signature), the candidates will have to pay application fee.
