Eligibility Criteria

Ph.D (Architecture)

  • Master’s degree in Architecture/Planning/allied specialization or equivalent from a recognized Institution/University (Council of Architecture/AICTE/UGC/Central Government) with at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent CGPA) at Bachelors & Masters level.
  • Faculty members in permanent positions at VSSUT, Burla, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture /Planning or equivalent and a Master’s degree in Architecture/Planning/ allied specialization or equivalent from a recognized Institution/University (Council of Architecture/AICTE/UGC/Central Government).
  • Non-Teaching staff in permanent positions at VSSUT, Burla, with at least 08 years of service (03 years in the current post), a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture /Planning or equivalent, and a Master’s degree in Architecture/Planning/ allied specialization or equivalent in a relevant discipline with at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent CGPA) at Bachelor’s and Master’s level from a recognized Institute/ University (Council of Architecture/AICTE/UGC/Central Government).

Ph.D (Engineering)

  • M.Tech/M.E/M.Sc.(Engg.) in a relevant discipline with at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent CGPA) at B.Tech/M.Tech level from a recognized Institute/University (AICTE/UGC/Central Government).

Selection Process

Selection Process (General):

  • All categories of candidates, except Category 2 (Full time Students with External Fellowship) and Category 4 (VSSUT Faculty Members), need to undergo selection through the University Ph.D. Selection Board.
  • Selection is based on overall academic career and interview.
  • Exemption from Written Test: Candidates who have qualified GATE/ NET/ Inspired fellowship (DST)/ Teacher fellowship (UGC) are exempt from the Written Test.
  • Interview for Exempted Candidates: Exempted candidates are required to appear only for an interview before the Selection Board. The interview assesses their research aptitude, ability to work in a team, subject interest, and the availability of supervisors and facilities in the Department before final selection.

Selection Process (Non-Exempted Categories: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 9):

  • For candidates in Categories 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 9 who have not qualified in GATE/ NET/ Inspired Fellowship (DST)/Teacher Fellowship (UGC) and other fellowships from any Govt. Agencies, the selection has three components:
    • Written Test: 100 Marks
      • Candidates shortlisted under this non-exempted category must appear for a Written Test to qualify for the Interview.
      • Qualifying Marks in the Written Test: 40% of the Total Marks (40 Marks).
    • Career Marks: 60 Marks (Distribution mentioned below – not provided in this section).
    • Interview: 40 Marks
      • Subject Knowledge in the Interview: 20 Marks
      • Publications: 10 Marks
      • Research Proposal: 10 Marks
  • Overall Qualifying Marks: Candidates should secure a minimum of 50 Marks out of the Total Marks of 100 (Career (60 Marks) + Interview (40 Marks)) to be declared as qualified.

Selection Process (Categories 2 & 4):

  • Candidates in Category 2 (Full time Students with External Fellowship) and Category 4 (VSSUT Faculty Members) are exempt from the Written Test.
  • They undergo selection by the Selection Board through an interview only.
  • The interview assesses their research aptitude, ability to work in a team, subject interest, availability of supervisors, facilities in the Department, and research focus.
