SVNIT Surat PhD Admission 2025 (Dec)

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat invites application for PhD admission in various departments for the 2025 (Dec) session.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s Degree in the relevant area of research with at least a second class with a minimum of 60% (CGPA 6.0) or equivalent for open/open-EWS/OBC candidates and 55% Marks (CGPA 5.5)  for SC/ST/PwD Candidates.
• Full time Institute Research Scholars (FIR) taking admission in PhD programs in Engineering, Sciences, English and Management should have qualified GATE/NET/CAT exams at least once, in his/her academic career.
• Student of full-time MTech Programme at the SVNIT willing to change over to a PhD Programme of the Institute may be permitted to do so in the beginning of the second year provided they obtained a CGPA of 8.0 or above after having registered for the full credits of course work in each of the first and second semesters of M.Tech. program.
• Candidates having qualified Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology from Institute of National Importance including CFTI with an exceptionally good academic record
  • Candidate should have CGPA  8.0 / equivalent marks or higher
  • Candidate should have a valid GATE score and should be in top 15% scorer of his/her related branch.
  • Final Selection will be through written test/Presentation/Interview in the department

Application Process

• Candidates can apply online through SVNIT official website.
• Read the instruction given there carefully before filling application form.
• Applicants may apply for multiple programmes. Separate registration form and application fee is required for each programme.
• After completion and submission of the online form, filled form in PDF format will be generated.
• On the day of interview and or written test, the shortlisted candidates should bring a printed copy of the on-line filled form along with all the necessary documents in original and a set of duly self-attested photocopies of all such documents.
• The exact time and venue for PhD interview will be notified along with the list of the shortlisted candidates.

Selection Process

Selection for PhD Admissions will be based on written test and/or Interview.

Scholarship

Regular full-time scholars may be awarded scholarship / Assistantship as per MoE / Institute guidelines.

• Last date of registration and non-refundable fee payment: 21 November, 2025
• Last date of submission of on-line application forms: 21 November, 2025
• Display of eligible candidates’ list by the respective Academic Departments: 28 November, 2025
• Physical reporting of candidates for written test/presentation (AI, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Humanities & Social Sciences, Mechanical): 9 December, 2025
• Physical reporting of candidates for written test/presentation (Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Physics): 10 December, 2025
• Physical reporting of candidates for written test/presentation (Management Studies, Centre for Tribal Technology Development, Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems and Holistic Education): 10 December, 2025
• Display of selected candidates’ lists at the Institute website: 17 December, 2025
• Payment of the semester fee and academic registration: 22 – 30 December, 2025
