Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha invites application for PhD Admission 2025-26 in various disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• A 1 year (2 Semester) master’s degree programme after a 4 year (8 semester) bachelor’s degree programme or a 2 year (4 semester) master’s degree programme after a 3 year (6 semester) bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/Differently-Abled, and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year (8 semester) bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/Differentlyabled, and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

NET Qualification

As per the notification, the NET qualified candidates shall be declared eligible in three categories

• Category 1: Eligible for admission to (i) Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor;
• Category 2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor;
• Category 3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor.

The above three categories are eligible to apply for PhD Admission subject to their selection and acceptance by a suitable guide in the respective department for the PhD Program.

N.B.: The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in category 2 and 3 will be valid for a period of one year for admission to PhD.

Eligibility for Foreign Nationals

• Foreign nationals desiring to get admission into Ph.D. programmes are exempted from the above conditions only if they have equivalent qualifications from institutions accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions.
• Their application shall be examined by the Department PhD Admission Committee (DPAC) on the concerned subject on a case-by-case basis.

Selection Process

The admission interview/viva-voce for Ph.D. will be conducted by a duly constituted DPAC of each respective department.

The PhD admission shall be based on the combined merit of the NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview –

• Category 1 will be admitted based on only interview as prescribed by UGC (Minimum standard and procedures for award of Ph.D.) Regulations 2022
• Category 2 and 3 candidates shall be provided 70% weightage for their percentile score and 30% weightage for interview in the admission process.
