Ranchi University invites application for PhD Admission 2026 in various programs.

Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR-NET (Category I/II/III), GATE or other equivalent examinations are eligible.
A 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree Programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s Degree or M.Phil. by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
Master’s degree or equivalent or M.Phil. degree from a Foreign Institution recognised by a statutory body in India.
Candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree (Hons/Hons with Research) Programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/ SEBC*(Non-Creamy layers)/ Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

All candidates are asked to input the marks of their final qualifying degree in percentage. Wherever CGPA is awarded by the University/Institute for the Post-Graduate/Undergraduate Examination and the marks obtained out of total marks or percentage of marks not furnished in the certificate, the equivalent percentage shall be worked out as per the conversion formula adopted by the University/Institute concerned.
It shall be the sole responsibility of the candidate to produce the documentary proof of the equivalent percentage/percentage conversion formula applicable to the Institute/University, at the time of document verification.
The maximum number of candidates called for interview shall be in the ratio of 1:3, i.e., three candidates for every available seat, subject to the availability of qualifying candidates.
The Merit List will be based on the percentage score obtained by the candidates in the Interview (for entrance-test-exempted candidates).
Preference will be given to NET JRF (Category-1), then NET Lectureship (Category-2), followed by NET Ph.D. (Category-3) and applicants of the qualified entrance tests in case of similar score secured by the applicants.
In case of candidates securing equal marks/percentage in similar cases mentioned above, preference in the merit list shall be accorded to the candidate who is older in age.

The hard copy of the filled-in application form along with the relevant documents shall be submitted only in the office of the concerned department.
No application shall be deposited at the Ranchi University headquarters.
Submission of both a hard copy in the office and a soft copy through e-mail is essential for processing of the documents, failing which the candidature of the applicant remains invalid.
All University Departments are situated at the Morabadi Campus of the Ranchi University.
