Rajendra University Balangir invites application for PhD Admission 2024-25.

Application Process

• The applicants are required to submit duly filled-in application form (attached herewith) along with bank draft of Rs. 1000/- (General Category)/ Rs. 500/- (SC/ST/PWD Category)- Drawn in favour of Comptroller of Finance, Rajendra University, payable at Balangir, Odisha along with self-attested academic and other relevant certificates as mentioned in the prescribed application form.
• Application should reach to Chairman, P.G. Council, Rajendra University, Blangir-767002 latest by 30/05/2025 through Speed/Registered Post only.
• Additionally, the candidate must fill the Google form https://forms.gle/pxm4kjSAFzGK77Hw8 by 30/05/2025.

Educational Qualification

• A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme (as per the Ph.D.Regulations-2022 of UGC) or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ Person with Disability (PWD), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grant Commission from time to time.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme (Subject to implementation of new regulations of UGC and NEP-2020 by the State govt.) should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Person with Disability (PWD), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grant Commission from time to time.

Eligibility

The following three categories of students/candidates are eligible for applying for Ph.D. Programme under Rajendra University as per the UGC Notification No. F.4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/ 2024 (NET)/140648, March 27, 2024 and No. F.4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/ 2024 (NET)/ 140648, March 28, 2024.

• Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor
• Category-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor
• Catcgory-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programme only and not for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor

For those applicants having valid JRF/NET (Assistant Professor) prior to the above-mentioned UGC Notification in March 2024, the selection will be done based on personal interview only.

The JRF-qualified candidates are admitted into Ph.D. programme based on an interview as per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D.Degree) Regulation, 2022.

For the candidates those who qualify in Category-2 and 3, 70% weightage will be given for the test scores 30% weightage will be given for interview for the admission to Ph.D. programmes.

The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview.

The University authorities reserve the rights to select or reject candidature for admission to Ph.D. Course Work programmes either according to the UGC Notice No. F.4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/ 2024 (NET)/140648, March 27, 2024 and No. F.4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/ 2024 (NET)/ 140648. March 28, 2024 only or/and conduct RET at the level of the university.
