Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have obtained Master’s Degree in the concerned subject under the faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur or a P.G. Degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing of any other university but considered, as equivalent by this University are eligible to appear in RUHS Ph.D. Entrance Test-2026.
  • Candidates can appear in entrance Examination in the subject of specialization of their Post-Graduation only.
  • The University shall adhere to the state level reservation policy, as applicable
  • Eligibility shall be checked by a committee constituted by the Convener/ Chairman/ Vice-Chancellor, for the purpose.
  • Candidates who are required to submit NOC (from present employer for pursuing Ph.D.) have to submit within a period of maximum 45 days of date of declaration of supervisor allotment.

Candidates with the following qualifications are eligible for Ph.D. courses of this University, under the following faculties :-

Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry

  • Candidates with MD/MS/ MDS or equivalent Master’s degree awarded by a College/University recognized by respective governing council are eligible to register for Ph.D course in their subject of specialization only.
  • In case of clinical subjects only candidates possessing M.D., M.S., M.D.S., or any equivalent P.G. degree after M.B.B.S. recognized by Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur are eligible.
  • Non-Medical candidates with a degree in M.Sc. programme of minimum 3 years in Anatomy/Physiology/Biochemistry/ Microbiology/Pharmacology under faculty of medicine as recognized by NMC/DCI/RUHS are also eligible.

Pharmacy

  • Candidates with M. Pharma degree awarded by this University or by a recognized College/ University recognized by PCI / RUHS or a P.G. Degree in Pharmacy considered as equivalent by RUHS are eligible for Ph.D. course in Pharmacy of this University with at least 55% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or minimum equivalent CGPA as defined by UGC /RUHS or any other competent body are eligible.
  • Relaxation of 5% or equivalent grade points for SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) and differently abled persons or categories decided by UGC or those who have obtained their masters degree prior to 19th Sept 91.

Nursing

  • Candidate must fulfill eligibility criteria for research scholar in faculty of nursing as per point no.9 (I), Indian Nursing Council (Revised Guidelines for starting Ph.D. in Nursing Programme in the university approved by the council), Regulations, 2024.
  • M.Phil. in nursing or M.Sc. Nursing or a Postgraduate degree in nursing recognized by council.
  • The scholars should have passed M.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 60% marks.

Eligibility for Admission for Part Time Ph.D. Programme

  • This programme is only for in-service candidates working within the RUHS Jurisdiction.
  • Educational qualifications of a scholar for Part Time Ph.D. programme is similar to the regular Ph.D. programme. In-service candidates can pursue Ph.D. course (Part Time) only after procuring NOC from present employer.
  • Permission of the employer in writing shall be acquired by the candidate to pursue Ph.D. programme along with his/her regular duties in the organization he/she is employed.
  • Certificate issued by the employer to allow him/her to fulfill the residential requirement during course work (6 months) and contact days (100 days per year from 2nd year onwards) with supervisor or as notified by University from time to time will have to be submitted by the candidates.
  • For Part Time Ph.D. Programme in faculty of nursing-3 years teaching or clinical experience after M.Sc. Nursing is mandatory and eligible scholar should be working in teaching institution/ hospital/ community centre/nursing department within the RUHS Jurisdiction (As per point no.9 (I), Indian Nursing Council (Revised Guidelines for starting Ph.D. in Nursing Programme in the university approved by the council), Regulations, 2024.)

Application Process

  • Before filling the on-line application form, read the information brochure and instructions for filling on-line application form, etc. very carefully. Ensure your eligibility and other requirements for admission as given in this brochure.
  • Candidate should be very careful in filling-up the on-line application form. If any lapse is detected during the scrutiny, candidature will be rejected even if candidate comes through the final stage of admission process or even at a later stage.
  • If a candidate fills two or more on-line application forms, the last filled and completed application form will be considered for further processing and the application fee deposited by the candidate more than once will be forfeited.
  • Follow the steps as given in “Instructions to fill up on-line application form” available at the RUHS website (www.ruhsraj.org).
  • Save the Login ID and password for further steps.
  • Print and preserve 2 copies of the application form filled on-line along with the following documents compulsorily with you:
    • Transaction document/payment proof
    • Date of Birth Certificate: 10th class marksheet / certificate
    • Marksheet of 10+2 (Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination) or its equivalent
    • Marksheet of Undergraduate course (UG course) or its equivalent.
    • Marksheet of Postgraduate course (PG course) or its equivalent.
    • Copy of photo ID (driving licence / PAN card/Voter ID / Govt. or PSU card/ School ID card / Undergraduate/Postgraduate examination admit card/Aadhar card)
    • 4 Passport size photos same as affixed on application form and also as uploaded
    • Domicile certificate of Rajasthan state, if applicable
    • Caste certificate, sub-category certificate, if applicable
    • PwD certificate, if applicable
    • EWS certificate, if applicable
    • Migration certificate, if applicable
    • Work experience certificate, if applicable
    • NOC from appointing authority, as applicable
    • Registration certificate of respective governing council
    • Any other relevant certificate(s)
  • Candidates will be required to submit the print copy of the application form (duly completed in all respects) at the time of interview, failing which their candidature shall be rejected / they will be disqualified without any further correspondence.

Selection Process

  • RUHS will admit Students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR NET/GPAT and similar National level tests based on an interview. And/Or Students will be admitted through Ph.D. Entrance Test-2026. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.
  • All candidates securing a minimum of 50% marks or more in the entrance test will be declared eligible and may be called for interview according to the number of vacant seats available subject-wise/specialization-wise.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ Differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • The syllabus for subject specific paper will be the same as that of RUHS Post Graduation examinations.
  • Provided that for the selection of candidates based on RUHS Ph.D. Entrance Test-2026, a weightage of 70% for the entrance test and 30% for the performance in the interview/viva-voce will be given.

Exemption From Entrance

  • Candidates who have qualified the UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGCCSIR NET(including JRF)/SLET/GATE/GPAT/SET will be eligible for exemption. Foreign/NRI candidates who have obtained master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA (6.0) & above and qualified PET examination conducted by the University. Candidate already possessing Ph.D. degree in any discipline from any statutory University shall also be exempted from PET.
  • But above candidates mandatorily have to fill RUHS Ph.D. Entrance Test-2026 online application form for further processing.

Pattern for Ph.D. Entrance Test-2026

  • The examination will have maximum 100 marks and be divided in two sections viz. Section A- Research Methodology and General Aptitude and Section B-Subject Aptitude.
  • Each section will have maximum 50 marks and the test will have MCQs only carrying 01 mark each.
  • The maximum duration of the exam will be 120 minutes.
  • The examination for two sections will be held on the same day.
  • The examination will be conducted in English language.

Syllabus for Ph.D. Entrance Test

  • Section-A: Research Methodology & General Aptitude: This section will have 40 multiple choice questions from Research Methodology covering (1) Meaning and Types of research, (ii) Principles of Review of Literature (iii) Defining a research problem (iv) Research Designs (v) Preparing a Research Proposal (synopsis) (vi) Sampling Techniques (vii) Types of Data and Data Collection Techniques (viii) Data Analysis Tools and (ix) Referencing styles.
  • Remaining 10 questions in this section will be related to general aptitude for which the questions from Analytical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Data Interpretation, Computer Awareness, and Language Competency will be asked.
  • Section-B: Subject Aptitude: This section will have 50 multiple choice questions based on the curriculum prescribed by the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences for its Post Graduate course in concerned subject.
