Eligibility Criteria

Engineering departments

  • First class with 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/ GEN-EWS/ OBC-NCL category and minimum 55% aggregate marks or 6.0 CGPA for candidates under SC/ ST/ PwD category. Master’s/ M.S. degree in Engineering/Technology in the appropriate branch of study. OR
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering/ Technology /M.Sc/MCA and at least CGPA of 8.0/10 or 75% of marks under GEN/GEN-EWS/OBCNCL category and at least CGPA of 7.5/10 or 70% for candidates under SC/ST/PwD category.
  • Final year students are also eligible to apply, provided at the time of admission he/she should produce final grade card failing which his/her admission will stand cancelled.

Sciences/humanities/Management Departments

  • Master’s Degree in an appropriate branch of Science/ Humanities/Social Sciences/ Management with a first class or minimum 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale or equivalent) or equivalent at Master’s level
  • Relaxation in minimum percentage / Equivalent grade point requirements will be as per the National Reservation Policy, Govt. of India. The preference shall be given to the valid UGC/CSIR/NET/GATE qualified candidates.

  • Application form on available on the institute website https://www.nitap.ac.in/
  • A candidates interested in applying in more than one department/Category shall be required to submit separate application forms along with appropriate fees and documents.
  • The dully filled application form with documents are to be emailed to the respective HoD with subject “ PhD admission in the department of XYZ)”.
  • The candidates are required to produces original documents (for verification purpose) along with NOC to respective HoDs if selected.

Selection Procedure

Selection for PhD admissions will be done through a written test and/or personal interview by respective departments.

Important Dates

  • Last date of submission of application form: 15 May, 2025
  • Publication of shortlisted applicant: 16 June, 2025
  • Date of written test followed by interview and other process for part-time PhD selection: 23 June, 2025 – 15 July, 2025
  • Display or notification of result in website (tentative): 20 July, 2025 to 31 July, 2025
  • Date of admission: 6 August, 2025 – 8 August, 2025
  • Commencement of class: 12 August, 2025
