Admission Categories
- Full-time – Institute Assistantship Category:
- Financial assistance is offered through Institute Assistantship from NIT ANP up to a maximum of 05 years from the date of initial registration.
- Full-time – Project Category:
- Financial assistance is offered by externally sponsored projects executed at NIT ANP, up to the closure of such project or fund availability, whichever is earlier.
- Full-time – Sponsored Category:
- Financial assistance should be offered by an externally sponsored agency obtained by the candidate prior to seeking admission at NIT ANP.
- Assistance is provided up to the maximum tenure specified by such sponsoring agency or fund availability, whichever is earlier.
- Part-time – Sponsored Category:
- No financial assistance is offered by the institute.
- The candidate seeking admission should be an employee sponsored by their currently serving private/semi-government/government institute/organization/industry.
- In the case of a private entity, a mutual agreement between the candidate and serving entity is essential for their bonafide services for at least a period of 02 years at the time of registration, if selected.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
The candidates should possess the CPGA or percentage acquired in preceding degree should be at least 60% or 6.5CGPA on 10-point scale. In case of SC/ST/PWD candidates a relaxation 5% or 0.5 CGPA is granted on such minimum limit.
Full time – Institute Assistantship Category
- Any Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Science/Management/Humanities. OR
- Candidates pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Management/Humanities in the final semester and expecting the provisional degree certificate on or before 31st July 2025. OR
- Candidates having a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering & Technology from any central government funded institutions with a CGPA more than 7.5 or equivalent.
Full Time – Project Category
- Any Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Management/ Humanities AND
- Candidates who are already working as JRF/SRF in the externally sponsored projects executed at NIT ANP
Full Time – Sponsored Category
- Any Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Management/ Humanities AND
- Possessing the sanction/ award order granting financial Assistance by any externally sponsored Agency at least for a period of 2 years.
Part-time – Sponsored Category
- Any Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Management/ Humanities AND
- Should be an employee sponsored by current serving private/ semi-government/ government institute/ organization/ industry.

Selection Procedure
- The candidates who do not have qualified GATE/NET/National level examination must appear for written examination conducted by NIT ANP before attending the interview.
- The qualifying mark for the examination shall be 60% of the maximum marks. In case of SC/ST/PwD candidate the qualifying mark shall be 55% of the maximum marks.
- Only the qualified candidates in this examination will be allowed for interview along with the shortlisted candidates who possess the qualified GATE/NET/etc.
- The modalities/syllabus of the examination will be intimated separately on the institute website.
- Based on the number of applications received from candidate(s) possessing like GATE/NET etc. qualification and available PhD seats, the departments/sections/divisions will set their individual criteria whether to conduct the national level examination hosted by institute.
Financial Support
- Institute fellowships are available to the Ph.D. students of all the departments. Subject to clearing the Progress Seminar to be conducted by the respective Department. Prevailing rate of fellowship is:
- 1st & 2nd Year: 37,000/-* p.m.
- 3rd, 4th, & 5th Year: Rs. 42,000/-* p.m. |
- The Institute fellowship will be effective from the date of enrollment or the start of biometric attendance, whichever is later. However, payment will commence only after submission of all required documents. Financial support is initially granted for one year and is subject to annual renewal based on satisfactory performance and progress.
- Candidates with external fellowships (e.g., CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, DST-INSPIRE, RGNF, ICSSR, Women Scientist, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply. The selection process remains the same for all candidates. The rate and mode of fellowship payment for such students will follow the regulations of the respective sponsoring/funding agency.
- All students, regardless of fellowship status, must assist faculty members in teaching and research activities, including tutorials, laboratory sessions, student projects, or R&D tasks as assigned by the HOD/Coordinator/Supervisor.
- Students with external fellowships (e.g., NET-JRF, CSIR, DST-INSPIRE) and project fellows may receive HRA, subject to their funding agency’s provisions. However, full-time students with Institute fellowship are eligible for HRA only under special circumstances as per institute norms.
Application Process
- Candidates dully filled-in application given in the Application form, and attach all the supporting documents. At the top of the envelope, please mention clearly that: “Application for the position of Ph.D. (Full time/ Part time) programme, Department of _______________.” Send the application by Speed Post.
- A separate application form must be submitted for each program/department/school/division for each category.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the written exam and/or interview.
- Reservations for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD candidates will be as per Government of India regulations.
Checklist of documents to be uploaded along with the application:
- SSC/Class X certificate in support of Date of Birth.
- Intermediate/10+2/Class XII certificate.
- Provisional certificate/Original Degree certificates and Marks Memos of the qualifying examinations.
- For GEN-EWS candidates, EWS certificate issued on or after 01st April, 2024 as per the format given in Annexure-I only is acceptable.
- Cast certificate (in case of SC/ST candidates).
- For other backward caste with non-creamy layer (OBC-NCL) candidates, the OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after 01st April, 2024 as per the format given in Annexure-II only is acceptable.
- The candidates who are employed and wish to do Ph.D. under part-time must enclose No Objection Certificate from the employer issued on or after 01-04-2024 only is acceptable (Annexure-III).
- Photograph on application form.
