The School of Physical Sciences, NISER invites applications for the Long-term / Dissertation Project Work Program from the eligible students registered / enrolled in the PG / Integrated MSc degree courses related to the Physical Sciences in the recognized Universities / Institutions.
Program Overview
The program aims to facilitate mostly to the students registered in a PG degree course having partial requirement of fulfillment of dissertation thesis work in the field of Physical Sciences.
The program process involves selection of a suitable topic for dissertation project work, conduct of required scientific experiments through the available resources, and drafting the findings in the form of dissertation thesis by analyzing the data.
Students will be allowed to work under close guidance and supervision of a faculty member from the School
Key Program Details
- Duration: Maximum 6 months (July to December 2025).
- Extension: Generally no extension, but may be considered in exceptional cases based on performance and project requirement.
- Prior Participation: Not eligible if previously availed at NISER.
- Faculty/PI Vacancies: Applications considered only for applied faculty/PI vacancies.
- Selection: By the respective Lab PI / Faculty In-Charge.
- Program Fee: ₹10000/- for the 6-month duration for students from private institutions/universities (additional fee for extension).
- Financial Support: No stipend or financial support from the institute.
- Accommodation: Chargeable hostel accommodation @ ₹30/- per day (subject to availability).

How to Apply
- Interested students may apply using the prescribed application form (Page No. 4-5 of the notice).
- Applications will be received through e-mail only.
- Applicants need to send the scanned copy of the filled-in application form & “Bonafide-Cum-No Objection Certificate” (format on Page No.6) along with other supporting documents in a single PDF file to the E-mail ID of the respective Lab-PI / Faculty In-Charge (as given in the table above).
- Applications received after the last date & without “Bonafide-Cum-No Objection Certificate” will not be considered.
- The list of selected students will be published on the NISER website https://www.niser.ac.in preferably by May 30th, 2025.

General Terms & Conditions
Students selected for the program will have to sign an undertaking at the time of joining, agreeing to the following conditions:
- NISER owns all data and intellectual property generated during the project work.
- Students have no rights to use the data for any purpose (including publications/patents) without prior NISER approval, except for project reports/theses under faculty supervision.
- Strict confidentiality of institute/school/lab/instrumentation information must be maintained.
- Violation may lead to disciplinary/legal action by NISER.
- Students must strictly follow the instructions of their faculty PIs.
- Proper discipline and decorum must be maintained on campus. Misconduct may lead to disciplinary action.
- Students must abide by rules and deposit caution money for availing hostel, library, or other NISER facilities.
- No NISER e-mail ID will be created for interns.
- Students need to use their own laptops; limited guest Wi-Fi may be provided for project-related work only (misuse may lead to disciplinary action).
- Hostel accommodation may be provided on a chargeable basis subject to availability.
