National Law University Jodhpur PhD Admission 2026-27

National Law University Jodhpur invites online applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme for the academic session 2026-27.

Eligibility

• Ph.D. in Law Eligibility: LL.M. or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC non-creamy layer/ Differently-Abled/Economically Weaker Section).
• Ph.D. in Humanities & Social Sciences Eligibility (Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History and English): Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in relevant Social Sciences or humanities with 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST/OBC non-creamy layer/ Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section).
• Ph.D. in Management Eligibility: Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in management with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/ OBCs non-creamy layer/ Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section).

Admission Process

Admissions without NLUJ Entrance Test

• The candidates with UGC-JRF (category 1), candidates with valid NET score in category 2 and category 3 (as per UGC notification No.F.4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee/ 2024 (NET)/ 140648 on March 27, 2024), industry-sponsorship and foreign nationals are exempted from appearing in the NLUJ Entrance Test.
• The candidates with UGC–JRF shall be admitted into the Ph.D. program based on UGC-JRF fellowship. They shall be awarded 70% weightage for UGC-JRF and remaining 30% weightage shall be based on evaluation and presentation of the research proposal.
• The candidates with Industry-sponsorship shall be admitted through evaluation of the Written Research Proposal followed by presentation. The weightage of each component shall be as follows:
  • Evaluation of Written Research Proposal: 70%
  • Presentation of research proposal: 30%
• The candidate should also score a minimum of 50% marks in the evaluation and presentation of research proposals to qualify for the final selection.

For National Level Entrance Test applicants

The admission process comprises of two stages.

• The first stage of the two-stage evaluation process is a written entrance test and the second stage is the evaluation of research proposals followed by interview/ viva-voce.
• The weightage of the two components shall be as follows:
  • Entrance Test: 70%
  • Research and interview/viva-voce: 30%
• The entrance test paper shall contain 50% of the questions from Research Methodology and the remaining 50% shall be from subject specific i.e., Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management.
• The candidate shall secure a minimum of 50% marks in the first stage i.e., entrance test to qualify for the second stage.
• The candidate should also secure a minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC/non-creamy layer, Differently-Abled candidates, EWS) in the evaluation of research proposals and interview/viva-voce to qualify for the final selection.
• Candidates equal to three times the number of available seats will be shortlisted for the second stage, based on the results of the entrance test.
• A relaxation of 5% will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories
• Test Center: NLU Jodhpur Ph.D. Entrance Test will be conducted at National Law University Jodhpur, NH-62, Nagour Road, Mandore, Jodhpur – 342304 (Raj.) – INDIA
• Time of Test-11.00AM to 1.00PM
