National Institute of Immunology PhD Admission 2025-26 (Winter-Session)

BRIC- National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications from eligible candidates for its Ph.D. programme for 2025-26 (Winter-Session).

Minimum Qualifications

• 4-year Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree. in any branch of science and technology (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), or a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree, or an equivalent degree, as per the norms of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana.
• At least a 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination. 5% relaxation in aggregate scores will be applicable for candidates from the reserved categories [(OBC (non-creamy layer; NCL), SC/ST, PWD and EWS (who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs)]. Rounding off the percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted.
• The candidates must have a valid 5-years doctoral fellowship sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC), or the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), or the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), or any other Government-recognised agency. Students with DST-INSPIRE fellowship are also eligible provided the fellowship can be activated. Admission will be contingent upon holding a valid fellowship tenable for a period of 5 years.
• Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the eligibility requirements at the time of joining.

Reservation

• Reservations of seats: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), 5% for persons with disability (PwD), and 10% for economically weaker sections (EWS) as per statutory norms.
• Reservation of 5% seats in respect of PwD candidates shall be done horizontally, as per the Government of India Guidelines/Policy.
• Reservation for EWS: The persons belonging to EWS, who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs, shall get 10% reservation in admission.

Selection Procedure

• Candidates for the Ph.D. programme at NII will be selected exclusively through a two round online interview process.
• The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on the NII website and the Notice Board of the Institute on 14th November 2025.
• Interviews (two rounds) will be held in online mode.
  • First round of interview is scheduled to be held on: 26-28 November 2025.
  • Second round of interview is scheduled to be held on: 02-05 December 2025.
• Candidates selected will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of NII in academic affiliation with the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana.
• The Ph.D. programme will start on 29thDecember 2025. The allotment of laboratories and thesis supervisors will be made by 05thJanuary 2026, based on the interactions with faculty members in the candidate’s area of interest and mutual preference.
• All candidates must activate their Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from their respective funding agency i.e. CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, DST-Inspire, immediately after joining the Institute (NII).
• NII is a residential campus, and shared hostel accommodation will be provided to all students admitted to the Ph.D. programme.

Application Procedure

• Candidates should submit their applications through NII online application portal only. The details of the application process are available at http://www.nii.res.in.
• Online application facility will be available on the NII website from 29th September 2025 to 20th October 2025.
• The name of the candidate and the date of birth should match the corresponding entries in the Secondary School Certificate (10th) or equivalent.
• Candidates must ensure that the information details furnished in the online application are true and correct. If any discrepancy is observed at any stage, NII reserves the right to cancel the admission.
