BRIC-NBRC (National Brain Research Centre) invites application for PhD Admission 2026 (July).

Located in the foothills of the Aravali range in Manesar, Gurgaon, Haryana, BRIC-NBRC is an autonomous institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India under the aegis of Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad (RCB). BRIC-NBRC has been recognised as an Institution of Excellence by Govt. of India.

Vacancy

BRIC-NBRC conducts cutting-edge research in diverse areas of the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience.

Ph.D. programme (Biotechnology)

Given the fact that modern day neuroscience is highly interdisciplinary in nature and relies on a spectrum of techniques spanning different disciplines, students from diverse academic backgrounds are encouraged to join BRIC-NBRC and excel in neuroscience research. Students coming from different backgrounds such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering and Medical Sciences can apply.

Number of seats: 8-10 (tentatively). The number of seats is not fixed and varies each session

Reservation of seats: As per the GoI guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualifications: Master in Science Degree in any branch of Natural Sciences such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics or applied sciences like Statistics / Computer Science / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / M.Sc. Degree in Psychology from a recognized Institute / University . You are also eligible if you have completed a minimum of a four-year course leading to Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University or an equivalent degree.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 60% marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average in higher secondary (10+2) examination, and at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average in from Bachelors and onwards is required. 5% relaxation in aggregate scores in Bachelors and Masters will be applicable for candidates from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC(Non-creamy) /PH). Rounding of percentage score to next integral value is not permitted.

In addition to the above, candidates should have qualified any of the following examinations and hold a valid fellowship offer at the time of interview:

  • Joint CSIR-UGC test for Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR/UGC JRF)
  • Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST-INSPIRE)
  • DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF)
  • ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (ICMR-JRF)
  • Any other nationally-competitive fellowship offered by the Government of India having a valid fellowship for a period of 5 years which can be activated till January 2027.

Requirements for Foreign nationals

Foreign nationals seeking admission to BRIC-NBRC must fulfil all the eligibility requirements for PhD described above. In addition, they must satisfy all the conditions as per rules of Govt. of India.

Selection Process

Based on their performance in any of the above qualifying examinations, candidates will be short-listed for interviews to be held at BRIC-NBRC.

Application Process

  • BRIC-NBRC accepts applications for the Ph.D. programme (2026) from the candidates who qualified (JRF) Examination in CSIR / UGC / DBT / DST / ICMR / NHBM with Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics/ Computer Science / Psychology.
  • The Candidates can apply for admission to Ph.D. programmes at BRIC National Brain Research Centre (BRIC-NBRC) either Online or Offline.

  • Last date of receipt of application (Online / Offline) for Ph.D. program at BRIC NBRC: 4 May, 2026
  • Intimation to the shortlisted candidates through email/website Publication of lists: 7 May, 2026
  • First Round Interview for Ph.D. program: 11 May, 2026 to 12 May, 2026 (Tentative)
  • Declaration of result of first round and intimation to selected candidates: 14 May, 2026
  • Date of Second Round of Ph.D. program: 18 May, 2026 (Tentative)
  • Declaration of result of final round and sending of offer letter to candidates: 25 May, 2026
