Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University PhD Admission 2025

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into the Ph.D. Programme-2025 in Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University.

Eligibility Criteria

The following candidates are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University –

• Category 1: National level fellowship/ scholarship such as JRF (Conducted by: UGC/ CSIR/ICMR/ICSSR/ICAR/INSPIRE/GATE etc.).
• Category 2: National Eligibility Test (NET) for Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. conducted by UGC/CSIR)
• Category 3: National Eligibility Test (NET) in the category for admission to Ph.D. programme only.

Candidates are eligible to apply for Ph.D. in regular mode if they fulfil either of the following degree eligibility conditions.

• Candidates who have completed a 2-year/ 4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree or a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
  OR
• Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled, and Economically Weaker section(EWS) other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC/State Govt. from time to time.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission directly after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme as per NEP-2020 should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/ Differently-Abled, and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
• In-service candidates will have to submit a No-objection certificate & Relieve Order from their employers, failing which their application will be rejected. A copy of the same will be submitted at the time of Registration. Candidates who are admitted into the Ph.D. programme as unemployed candidates and subsequently applying for Registration as in-service candidates will have to submit a No-objection certificate & Relieve Order from their employers at the time of registration.

Selection Process

For consideration of admission into Ph.D. it is mandatory for the candidates to appear interview/ viva-voce, which shall be conducted by the concerned department.

Candidates are required to submit a broad outline of the proposed research work at the time of verification of original documents on the day of the interview.

The candidates found provisionally eligible during the verification have to present their proposal in front of the board and appear at the interview.

The following modes will be adopted for selection of the candidates.

• For those candidates having JRF/NET (LS) prior to 2024, the selection will be done based on personal interview only.
• For the candidates who had qualified for national level fellowship/ scholarship in UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE/ CEED and similar National level tests, the selection will be done based on interview only.
• For all candidates qualified through UGC/NET/ UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE/CEED and similar National level tests in 2024 onwards for appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. or Admission to Ph.D. only, the selection will be based on the performance in the NET/ GATE examination and the interview/viva-voce with weightages of 70% for the national level test and 30% for the interview.

• Eligible candidates who wish to apply for admission into Ph.D. program in the selected subjects can register through the online SAMARTH registration portal (https://mscbuadm.samarth.edu.in).
• The candidates should have a valid email ID and phone number before applying the online application form for admission into Ph.D. programmes in Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University.
• The online application must be submitted as per the dates notified on the University website. No offline applications are accepted in any form at the office.
