Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have completed 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC and MBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC and MBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Part Time Mode

  • PhD programmes through part-time mode will be permitted, provided all the conditions as stipulated in University Research Ordinance are fulfilled.
  • The candidate will produce a ‘No Objection Certificate’ for part time Ph.D. programme from competent authority of the organization where the candidate is employed. Such certificate should clearly state that :
    • The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis.
    • His/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research.
    • If required, he/she will be relieved from the duty to complete the Course Work.

Admission Procedure

The eligible candidates having qualifications mentioned in above point 2 must also qualify under one of the following categories (in concurrence with the provisions of U.G.C. Public Notice No. 140648 Date 27-03-2024)

  • Category 1: Candidates with a fellowship/scholarship from national-level examinations such as CSIR/UGC-JRF, ICMR-JRF, ICAR-JRF, DBT-JRF, etc.
  • Category 2: Candidates who have qualified national-level exams like CSIR/UGC-NET or similar tests.
  • Category 3: Candidates eligible for Ph.D. admission based on the CSIR/UGC-NET examination.

Selection Process

Candidates of Category 1:

  • Shall be directly called for an interview provided they have valid fellowship as detailed out in SOPP available on the university website.
  • The interview will carry 30 marks.

Candidates of Category 2 & 3:

  • 70% weightage will be given for NET scores and 30% weightage for the interview.
  • The interview will carry 30 marks.
  • The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined score of NET and interview.

Note:

Qualified candidates, maximum twice the number of seats, shall be called for interview to discuss their research interest/area, their research aptitude and relevant knowledge.

Application Process

  • Candidates are advised to visit the University website (www.mgsubikaner.ac.in and www.univindia.net) from time to time for related announcements and updates. No correspondence with individual candidates will be made or entertained.
  • Permission to appear in the interview does not guarantee the eligibility for the admission. All the applicants who fill up the online application form will be provisionally allowed to appear in the interview.
  • University reserves the right to cancel the admission to Ph.D. even at a later stage if the candidate fails to fulfil eligibility criteria.
  • Eligibility and other conditions as on last date of filling the online application form shall be considered. Any addition/changes thereafter will not be entertained.
  • Candidate must keep printout of application form and proof of fees receipt for his/her personal record.
  • All legal matters related to Ph.D. Admission 2025 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur.

The hard copy of the application form must be sent by speed post or by hand only and not by courier or any other agency.

  • Rs. 3000/- for candidates of Unreserved/OBC(creamy layer) category
  • Rs. 2500/- for the candidates of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) /MBC /EWS category
