Kolhan University PhD Admission 2025

Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand invites application for PhD Admission for 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR JRF, NET, NET(Ph.D.), GATE, JEST, JET, DBT, DST, NBHM,CEED or any other equivalent national-level examination. OR Regular assistant professors currently working in the P.G. department/ constituent colleges under Kolhan University shall be eligible to apply.
• 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme, 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in appoint scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks (minimum of 50%) or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non- creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Note: The candidates must have qualified the UGC/CSIR JRF, NET, Ph.D., GATE, JEST, JET, DBT, DST, NBHM, CEED or any other equivalent national-level examination on or before the date of advertisement.

Admission Categories

• Category I: Candidates who have qualified for the UGC, CSIR, DBT, DST, GATE Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). AND/OR Regular assistant professors currently working in the P. G. department/ constituent colleges under Kolhan University.
• Category II: Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET-Assistant Professor, NET(Ph.D.), JEST, JET, DBT, DST, NBHM, CEED, or any other equivalent national-level examination.

Selection Procedures

• For Category I: The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance at the interview/Viva-Voce. The interview or Viva-Voce will carry 100 marks.
• For Category II: The candidates score at the interview will have 30% weightage while their UGC/CSIR NET-Assistant Professor/NET (Ph.D.)/ JET score will carry 70% weightage.
• The admissions will be taken as per UGC guidelines. No TA/DA will be provided candidates appearing for the interview/ Viva-Voce.

Application Process

• The application process will be conducted only in online mode through the link “https://www.kuuniv.in/kuadmission”.
• The candidates applying for admission to Ph.D. Programme in more than one o subject must apply separately for different subjects.
• Complete the application form (Ph.D. Application Form 2025) and pay the application fee through the online payment link provided.
• Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
• The department/subject-wise list of candidates shortlisted for Interview/Viva-Voce, will be published on the University website.

• Ph.D. Admission notification on the university website: 17 November, 2025
• Last date for online application: 27 November, 2025
• Short listing of eligible candidates: 28 November, 2025 to 1 December, 2025
• Interview by DRC/ RAC of different departments: 2 December, 2025 to 6 December, 2025
• Declaration of final result on the website: 15 December, 2025
• Reporting for Ph.D. admission: 16 December, 2025 to 24 December, 2025
• Commencement of Ph.D. Coursework: 2 January, 2026
