Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad invites applications for PhD admissions for the academic year 2025-26.

PhD Admission Category

• External (Part Time) Ph.D. Program
• Full Time Ph.D. Research Programs
  • Admissions will be made in to the Full Time Ph.D. Research Programs from the eligible candidates who are awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) through National Level Tests by UGC, CSIR and any other Government Organization and the DST Inspire JRF’s who qualified at NET/GPAT/GATE in various subjects.
• Part Time Ph.D. Program for Industrial Executives

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program must have a master’s degree. This can be obtained after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program (for Engineering faculties) or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program (for Science and Humanities & Social Sciences faculties). Alternatively, qualifications declared equivalent to a master’s degree by a statutory regulatory body are accepted. Candidates need at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. or An equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution is also acceptable if accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency approved, recognized, or authorized by a legal authority in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country that assesses, accredits, or assures quality and standards of educational institutions.
• Candidates who have completed M.Phil. coursework with at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade ‘B’ on the UGC 10-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever a grading system is followed) and have successfully completed their M.Phil. degree are eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program. A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and recommended for the award of the degree may be provisionally admitted to the Ph.D. program in any institution even before the viva-voce or final defense.
• A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) or its equivalent grade may be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as per the Commission’s decisions.
• Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/SLET/ valid score card of GATE / GPAT Teacher fellowship holder are exempt from the Entrance Test conducted by JNTUH.
• Candidates who have not qualified in UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET/SLET/GATE/GPAT Teacher fellowship holder are required to take the University Entrance Test.

Faculty of Engineering

• Civil Engineering:
  • B.E/B.Tech/AMIE in Civil Engineering/Civil & Environmental Engineering, Construction Engg., or Equivalent.
  • M.E/M.Tech/MS in Civil Engineering/ any other sub-specialization of Civil Engineering/ any other interdisciplinary branches related to Civil Engineering or Equivalent.
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • EEE, Instrumentation and Control Engineering (with Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or other interdisciplinary Branches), Energy Systems (with M.Tech. Energy Systems & B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering related), any other sub-specializations of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and any other interdisciplinary branches related to Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering:
  • BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics), Mechanical Engineering (Production), Mechanical Engineering (Nanotechnology), Mechanical Engineering (Industrial Engineering). And
  • M.Tech/ME in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Production, Nanotechnology, Advanced Manufacturing Systems, Machine Design, Engineering Design, Thermal Engineering, HVAC, R&AC, HPE, IC Engines, CAD/CAM, Energy Systems, Product Design, Tribology.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering:
  • ECE, Electronics and Telematics Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering (with Bachelor Degree in ECE or other interdisciplinary Branches), any other sub-specialization of ECE and any other interdisciplinary Branches related to ECE.
• Computer Science & Engineering:
  • Information Technology and other sub-specialization of CSE and any other interdisciplinary branches related to CSE/MCA with M.Tech./M.Sc. with M.Tech.
• Metallurgical Engineering:
  • B.E./B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Engineering. And
  • M.E./M.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, Industrial Metallurgy, Welding Technology, Materials Science, Corrosion Engineering, Materials Science and Technology.

Faculty of Science & Technology

• Biotechnology:
  • Post Graduate Degree in Biotechnology / Chemical Engineering / Food Technology / Bio Chemical Engineering / Bio Chemistry/Bioinformatics/ Microbiology /Life Sciences (Zoology, Botany, Genetics, Agricultural Sciences) / Pharmacy / Environmental Science and Technology or allied subjects. Agricultural Engg., Dairy Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Veterinary Science, Animal Biotechnology or equivalent degree.
• Chemistry:
  • M.Sc. Chemistry (General / Inorganic / Organic / Analytical Chemistry etc.)
• Environmental Science & Technology:
  • Post graduate degree in Physical Sciences/Earth Sciences/Life Sciences/Environmental Sciences /Biotechnology/Environmental Engg. / Chemical and other allied Engineering disciplines/Agricultural Computer Sciences or equivalent degree.
• Mathematics:
  • Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Mathematics with Computer Science / Statistics and Applied Statistics.
• Nano Science & Technology:
  • M.Sc. (Nano Science & Technology) / M.Tech. (Nano Technology) / M.Tech.(Nano Electronics) / M.Sc. in Chemistry / Physics / Earth Sciences or equivalent degree.
• Physics:
  • M.Sc. Engg. Physics / Applied Electronics / Geophysics / Astro Physics / Applied Physics / Instrumentation / Polymer Physics / Space Physics / Atmospheric Sciences / Meteorology and Oceanography.
• Water Resources:
  • Any post Graduate Degree in the field of Water Resources /Hydrology/Watershed Management/Geology/Geo Physics / Geo-Engineering/ Metrology /Agricultural Engineering/ Agricultural Metrology/ Solid Sciences (water resources aspects) and Agronomy or equivalent degree.
• Pharmaceutical Sciences:
  • Pharmacy required qualification B.Pharmacy and M.Pharmacy or Pharma.D.

Management:

• MBA

Humanities and Social Sciences:

• Master Degree in the respective Discipline.

Based on the performance in the interview conducted by JNTUH including the weightage of research publications and PPT presentation of the proposed research work.
