Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate applying for Research Entrance Test must hold a postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with a minimum 55% marks or Equivalent grade in 7 point scale of UGC. A relaxation of 5% in minimum marks shall be given to Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and differently abled candidates.
- Candidates appearing for final year/semester of the postgraduate degree examination are also eligible to appear for the admission process subject to the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria in the final result which is required at the time of admission.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on Research Entrance Test (RET).
The process of Research Entrance Test will consist of two steps:
- First Step: Test A (Written Test) – 140 Marks
- Second Step: Test B (Interview) – 60 Marks
Students who have secured 50% marks in the written test are eligible to be called for the Step B. A relaxation of 5% marks shall be allowed in the written test for the candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), differently-abled category and Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
All the candidates who have secured the qualifying marks in the written test or a maximum of thrice the number of available seats according to the merit list, whichever is less will be called to appear in the second step of RET.
Exemption from Entrance Test
The following candidates are exempted from the first step of RET (Test A, Written Test) –
- The regular teachers of University campus and its affiliated government and aided colleges.
- Foreign students (including NRI), subject to the rules of the Government of India.
- The candidates who have qualified NET(with JRF)/NET(without JRF)/ NET(qualified for Ph.D only)/ GATE/CEED.
They Will appear directly in Second Step of RET(Test B, Interview). However, they also have to apply online with the requisite fee. Candidates who fail to apply online will not be considered for admission.
Research Entrance Test Details
The RET for various Ph.D. programmes will be conducted at different centers in Ballia only.
The written test shall have two question papers.
- First paper will contain 70 multiple choice questions of 70 marks of two hours duration to assess the academic aptitude, research ethics, research methodology and research aptitude of candidates.
- Second paper will contain 70 multiple choice questions of 70 marks of two hours duration to assess the subject specific knowledge of candidates.
Note- There will be no negative marking.
Syllabus
- Syllabus for Research Entrance Test will be similar to that prescribed for NET/JRF examination of University Grant Commission (UGC), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) which may be seen from respective websites.
Application Process
- The Eligible Candidates who are willing to participate in the admission process shall have to apply online and get itself registered on https://jncuadm.samarth.edu.in.
- Only after the registration on https://jncuadm.samarth.edu.in, the applicants can fill the online application form and make requisite fee payment thorough UPI/ Net-banking/NEFT or Debit or Credit card. Candidates are advised to take printouts of the pay-in-slip of bank along with the application form for future references.
- The candidate will be solely responsible for all the entries made by him in the online application. If the candidate conceals or misrepresents any fact in the entries, his/her candidature will be cancelled and he / she will be debarred from admission in the University.
