The Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), an autonomous centre of UGC, invites applications for its Summer Training Programme 2025.

IUAC provides internationally competitive research facilities using accelerator systems for research in experimental nuclear physics, materials science, atomic and molecular physics, accelerator physics, accelerator mass spectrometry, radiation biology, and radiation physics. B.Sc. Summer Training Programme – 2025 Details

  • Duration: 02-30 June, 2025
  • Location: IUAC Premises
  • Objective: To provide a glimpse of hands-on research opportunities in various branches of experimental physics.
  • Research Areas: Accelerator Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Material Science, Nuclear Physics, Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, Geo-chronology, Instrumentation, and AI/ML.
  • Activities: Research projects under IUAC Scientists/Engineers, special evening lectures by eminent Physicists/Scientists (online/offline), and guided tour of IUAC experimental facilities.

Eligibility

  • Students studying in the second or third year of B.Sc. (Physics / Applied Physics / Research) or Integrated M.Sc. (Physics / Applied Physics) in any Indian college / university / institute.
  • Applicants must have consistently good academic record from class X onwards securing minimum 60% marks / CGPA >= 6.5 (which ever is mentioned in the marksheet). While calculating percentage of marks/ CGPA in secondary (class 10) and senior secondary (10+2) examinations, one has to consider all subjects. For B. Sc. / integrated M. Sc. courses, marks obtained in the core subjects only (excluding optionals / languages) need to be taken into account.

Financial Assistance

  • TA (AC III-tier train fare, on production of ticket).
  • Free boarding and lodging at IUAC (twin sharing basis in IUAC hostel / guest houses).

  • Upload necessary details and a set of supporting documents in a single pdf file (size not exceeding 1 Mb) in the following sequence:
    1. Secondary/ Class X marksheet
    2. Senior Secondary/ Class XII marksheet
    3. B.Sc./ Integrated M.Sc. (First Year) marksheet
    4. B.Sc./ Integrated M.Sc. (Second Year) marksheet (if applicable)
    5. National Scholarship Certificate (if applicable)
  • Upload a recent passport size colour photograph (size not exceeding 100 kB (250 x 350 pixels)) in PNG, JPG, JPEG, or GIF format.
  • Provide the name, address, and email of a responsible person (preferably the Head of the Department / Institution) for confidential referral.
  • Clearly specify complete Home address and University / College address.

Important Instructions for Applicants

  1. Online application can be submitted till midnight of April 23, 2025. Applications sent by post or through email will not be accepted.
  2. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
  3. Fields marked with ‘*’ are mandatory. Follow on-screen guidelines carefully.
  4. Do not submit multiple copies of the online application form.
  5. Eligible students are those in the second or third year of B.Sc. (Physics/ Applied Physics/ Research) / Integrated M.Sc (Physics/ Applied Physics) with consistently good academic record (minimum 60% marks / CGPA >= 6.5, considering all subjects for classes X & XII, and core subjects only for B.Sc./Integrated M.Sc.).
  6. Provide marks obtained in the previous year(s) of B.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. (average of two semesters per year for semester system).
  7. Upload all required documents in a single pdf file (max 1 Mb) in the specified sequence.
  8. Upload a recent passport size colour photograph (max 100 kB, 250 x 350 pixels) in PNG, JPG, JPEG, or GIF format.
  9. Upon successful submission, a unique ID will be assigned for future correspondence.
  10. Provide contact details of a responsible person (Head of Department/Institution preferred) for confidential referral.
  11. Selected candidates will receive TA (AC III-Tier train fare) and free boarding and lodging (twin sharing).
  12. Clearly specify complete Home and University/College addresses. Discrepancies may lead to cancellation of candidature.
