IIT Mandi School of Physical Sciences PhD Admission 2025 (Aug)

IIT Mandi seeks application for the Regular Ph.D. program in the School of Physical Sciences (SPS) for the Odd semester (August- December 2025), Academic session 2025-26.

Eligibility & Minimum Qualification

M.Sc. in Physical Sciences with at least 60% marks for Gen/Gen EWS & 55% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL, along with at least any one of the following:

1. Valid GATE Score Card / Valid JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) Score.
2. CSIR/UGC-JRF/NET certificate with validity.
3. DST-INSPIRE fellowship.

Exemptions from mandatory requirements of Valid GATE score:

• B.Tech/B.E./B.S. or equivalent degree from CFTI (Centrally Funded Technical Institute) / any of the top 100 institutes according to NIRF ranking (overall category) at the time of application / any Himachal Pradesh Govt. institution or universities with a CGPA/CPI of at least 7.5 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (for General/EWS categories), and a CGPA/CPI of at least 7.0 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (for OBC-NCL category), and a CGPA/CPI of at least 6.5 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (for SC/ST/PWD categories).
• BS-MS/M.Sc. or equivalent degree from IITs, IISERs, IISc, IIMs / any of the top 100 institutes according to NIRF ranking (overall category) at the time of application with a CGPA/CPI of at least 7.5 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (for General/EWS categories), and a CGPA/CPI of at least 7.0 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (for OBC-NCL category), and a CGPA/CPI of at least 6.5 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (for SC/ST/PWD categories).
• NIRF Ranking (within the top 100) should be in the overall category granted for the year during which admission is sought.

In the online application, select the research areas of Physical Sciences. (Candidate can select more than one area according to their preference).
