IIT Indore PhD Electrical Engineering Admission 2025-26 Autumn Semester

The Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Indore invites applications from motivated and research-oriented students for admission to its Ph.D. Program for Autumn semester 2025-2026.

Admission Categories

Applications are invited in TA, FA, SW, IS, DF, CT and Special CT for teachers of M.P. State Government Engineering Colleges.

FA (Fellowship Awardee)

Fellowship Awardees from UGC, CSIR, NBHM, DST etc., OR JRF/ SRF project staff working in a sponsored research project under a faculty member, PI of the project, of IIT Indore.

TA (Teaching Assistantship)

Institute Teaching Assistantship with scholarship according to guidelines of MHRD.

SW (Sponsored WITHOUT Institute scholarship)

Sponsored Applicants from a highly reputed R & D organization or Industry.

IS (Institute Staff)

On a Part Time basis only for regular staff members of IIT Indore.

DF (Defense Forces)

for Serving personnel of defense forces (WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute).

CT (College Teacher)

Permanent Employee of the sponsoring University/College/Institute WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute

Eligibility Criteria

• Masters’ degree in the relevant Department of Technology/ Engineering (with first division as defined by the awarding University/ Institute) AND GATE qualification. OR
• Four-year Bachelors’ degree OR five-year integrated degree in the relevant Department of engineering with first division AND valid GATE qualification. OR
• Masters’ degree in the relevant Department of Science with first division AND valid GATE qualification OR UGC/CSIR-JRF qualification OR Equivalent Fellowship. OR
• Masters’ degree in the relevant Department of Science (with first division as defined by the awarding Institute/ University) with UGC-NET (Lecturership) AND valid GATE qualification
• GATE is not compulsory for DF / IS / CT / SW category.

Department Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Electronics & Communication / Physics / Instrumentation and Control Engineering / Material Science & Engineering / Mathematics or any other equivalent degree with specialization in the areas of Communication and Signal Processing or VLSI and Nanotechnology or Radio Frequency and Microwave or Power Electronics and Power Systems or Control Systems and Instrumentation (with first division in the qualifying degree*) AND having GATE qualification in EE/EC/IN/PH subjects OR UGC-NET-LS qualification OR UGC/CSIR/DBT – JRF qualification OR DST INSPIRE fellowship OR Equivalent fellowship. OR
• Four-year Bachelor’s degree OR five-year integrated degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Electronics & Communication / Physics / Instrumentation and Control Engineering / Material Science & Engineering / Mathematics (with first division in the qualifying degree*) AND valid GATE qualification in EE/EC/IN/PH subjects OR UGC-NET-LS qualification OR UGC/CSIR/DBT – JRF qualification OR DST INSPIRE fellowship OR Equivalent fellowship.

Application Procedure

• Applicants have to apply ONLINE through official website of IIT Indore.
• After submitting the application online the eligible candidates have to bring the signed hard-copy of the application along with payment receipt, recent photograph, self- attested copy of the relevant certificates, additional forms at the time of Written Test / Interview.

After applying online, the signed application form along with the following documents should be sent by email to admissionee@iiti.ac.in

• Self-attested photocopies/scanned originals of all relevant supporting documents such as degree certificates, mark sheets from 10th class onwards, date of birth certificate, fellowship award letter, GATE score card UGC-NET Score card, etc., that they wish to present before the selection committee.
• Two recent passport size photographs.
• Receipt of fee (Rs.100/-) paid through SBI i-collect.
• Letters of recommendation duly signed by a minimum of two referees, who have known the applicant in a professional capacity, are mandatory for PhD selection process and must be sent directly to admission-ee@iiti.ac.in

• Last date of online application: 8 June, 2025 (up to 23:59 hrs. IST)
• Notification to the shortlisted candidates for written test and interview: 9 June, 2025
