IIT Indore PhD Chemistry Admission 2025 (May)

The Department of Chemistry at IIT Indore invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. Program for 2025 (May).

Admission Categories

Applications are invited in TA, FA, SW, IS, DF, CT and Special CT for teachers of M.P. State Government Engineering Colleges.

FA (Fellowship Awardee)

Fellowship Awardees from UGC, CSIR, NBHM, DST etc., OR JRF/ SRF project staff working in a sponsored research project under a faculty member, PI of the project, of IIT Indore.

TA (Teaching Assistantship)

Institute Teaching Assistantship with scholarship according to guidelines of MHRD.

SW (Sponsored WITHOUT Institute scholarship)

Sponsored Applicants from a highly reputed R & D organization or Industry.

CT (College Teacher)

Permanent Employee of the sponsoring University/College/Institute WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute

Eligibility Criteria

• Masters’ degree in the relevant Department of Technology/ Engineering (with first division as defined by the awarding University/ Institute) AND GATE qualification. OR
• Four-year Bachelors’ degree OR five-year integrated degree in the relevant Department of engineering with first division AND valid GATE qualification. OR
• Masters’ degree in the relevant Department of Science with first division AND valid GATE qualification OR UGC/CSIR-JRF qualification OR Equivalent Fellowship. OR
• Masters’ degree in the relevant Department of Science (with first division as defined by the awarding Institute/ University) with UGC-NET (Lecturership) AND valid GATE qualification
• GATE is not compulsory for DF / IS / CT / SW category.

Department Eligibility Criteria

• For Indian applicants: Master’s degree in chemistry or other fields relevant to Chemical Sciences (with first division) AND valid UGC-JRF or CSIR (JRF, NET-LS, Eligibility for admission to PhD) or GATE or (valid INSPIRE Fellowship for Ph.D. or valid Equivalent Fellowship for Ph.D.
• For International applicants: Master’s degree in chemistry or other fields relevant to Chemical Sciences (with first division as defined by the awarding Institute/ University) AND Valid TOEFL/IELTS OR equivalent qualification.

Application Procedure

• Applicants have to apply ONLINE through official website of IIT Indore.
• After submitting the application online the eligible candidates have to bring the signed hard-copy of the application along with payment receipt, recent photograph, self- attested copy of the relevant certificates, additional forms at the time of Written Test / Interview.

Candidates must arrange recommendation letters from at least two referees and should request the referees to send recommendation letters in the given format (format of recommendation letter attached) to admission-chem@iiti.ac.in well before appearing for the interview.

Mere fulfillment of the essential qualifications does not guarantee admission to the Ph.D. program in the Department of Chemistry. The selection will be based on the overall performance, including written tests and interviews, academic background, suitability for research in the chosen field/area, research aptitude, communication skills, etc.

A detailed schedule regarding the interview will be intimated to the shortlisted candidates via email after the last date of application (Note: Interviews will be in OFFLINE mode).

Please note that the CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF candidates can reimburse their 3-tier AC class shortest distance train fare (or up to the equivalent bus fare) to attend the interview after registering for the Ph.D. program at IIT Indore.
