Position
Applications are invited for the position of Research Assistant for an academic research project exploring the socio-political and ecological dimensions of pastoral systems. The position will commence in February 2025 for an initial period of 4 months, extendable up to 11 months based on project needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field research (social and ecological) in the project’s study sites: Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana.
- Assist with desk-based research, including literature reviews and data organization.
- Coordinate logistics for field visits and project meetings.
- Contribute to project documentation and preliminary data analysis.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Environment and Development, Development Studies, or related disciplines).
- Candidates must have completed an empirical research-based dissertation, preferably focusing on pastoral, agro-pastoral, or agricultural systems.
- Basic knowledge of field research methodologies, data collection and analysis.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Q-GIS and remote sensing and proficiency with map making is desirable.
Remuneration
The position offers a consolidated remuneration of ₹25,000 per month+ HRA. All travel and fieldwork expenses will be covered by the project.
