IISER Pune PhD Data Science Admission 2025 (Aug)

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune invites application for PhD Data Science Program for the academic session starting from Aug 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

• Overall 60% marks in aggregate or an equivalent CGPA on a 10-point scale in Master’s degree or a four-year Bachelor’s Degree like BE, BTech, BS or equivalent in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or any science / engineering subject. For SC, ST, and Specially abled candidates PD/VH, the requirement is overall 55% or an equivalent CGPA in aggregate,

AND

• At least one of the following:
  1. Qualified a national eligibility exam such as CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, DBT-JRF-A, DBT-BINC-JRF, JEST, NBHM, GATE, JGEEBILS, etc with a score valid for August 2025
  2. INSPIRE-PhD fellowship (should be in possession of provisional selection letter at the time of Interview).
  3. A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from any Institutions of National Importance (INI) with CGPA ≥ 8.0. List of INIs is available here.

Selection Process

• Based on application forms received, the above listed criteria, and additional criteria set by the Department, applicants will be shortlisted for interviews.
• Shortlisted candidates will be selected for admission to the program through a rigorous evaluation process involving two rounds of interviews by a selection committee.
• The mere application or shortlisting does not guarantee admission into the PhD programme.
