IIITDM Jabalpur invites applications for PhD Admission 2025-26.

Applicants having qualified GATE/ National Level Exams (CEED/ UGC (JRF/NET)/ CSIR/other equivalent) are preferred for admissions, however, candidates who have not qualified GATE/CEED/NET may also apply for admissions.

Admission Categories

Full Time

  • With Institute Assistantship (IA):
    • Institute Teaching Assistantship with scholarship as per MoE guidelines.
  • Fellowship Award (FA):
    • Fellowship Awardees from the funding agencies such as CSIR, UGC, NBHM, DST etc. The scholarship will be as per the rules of the concerned funding agency.
  • Sponsored Candidate (SW); Without Institute scholarship:
    • For applicants sponsored from Govt. recognized R&D organizations/ industries, listed with NSE or SEBI. Upon admission, applicants are expected to be relieved for full-time research work at the Institute for a minimum period of three years.

Part Time

  • Institute Staff (IS):
    • Only for regular staff members of the institute who have worked for at least 2 years (as regular staff).
  • Project Staff (PS):
    • JRF/ SRF project staff working in a sponsored research project under a faculty member, PI of the project, of the institute.
  • External (EX); Without Institute scholarship:
    • Applicant employed in a Govt. recognized R&D organization/industry listed with SEBI or NSE/BSE and having adequate research facilities. OR
    • The person employed in defense or railway establishment or a company/industry having a turnover of Rs. 100 crores with a relevant research facility or more, serving at an executive position, and having 5 years or more of experience in a company.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • A minimum of 60 percent marks OR a CPI/CGPA of 6.0 (on the scale of 10.00) at the Master’s level qualifying examination (M.Tech./M.E./M.Des./MCA).

Ph.D. in CSE:

  • M.E./M.Tech. with B.E./ B.Tech./MCA/ M.Sc. in any discipline/branch

Ph.D. in ECE:

  • M.E./M.Tech. with B.E./ B.Tech./MCA/ M.Sc. in any discipline/branch

Ph.D. in ME:

  • M.E./M.Tech. with B.E./ B.Tech./MCA/ M.Sc. in any discipline/branch

Ph.D. in SM:

  • M.E./M.Tech. with B.E./ B.Tech./MCA/ M.Sc. in any discipline/branch

Ph.D. in Design:

  • M.Des./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Sc. in Physiology (Specialization in Ergonomics) /Applied Psychology/ Cognitive Science with B.E./ B.Tech./B. Arch. in any discipline/branch

Ph.D. in NS:

  • M.Sc./M.Phil./M.Tech./M.E. in any discipline/ branch

Ph.D. in LA:

  • Post Graduate degree in any discipline, viz; Arts, Science, Management, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Medical Sciences

Important Notes:

  • GATE/CEED/NET is not compulsory.
  • Applicants with qualified GATE/ UGC(NET/JRF) / CSIR/ CEED/ other equivalent will only be interviewed.
  • Applicants without GATE/CEED/NET will have a written exam at the Institute, and only shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.
  • Final year B.E./B.Tech. students from CFTIs with a minimum CPI of 8.0 or equivalent can apply for direct Ph.D. admission after their B.E./B.Tech.

Financial Support (applicable for IA category students)

  • Institute Assistantship will be provided to all selected candidates under the IA category.
  • Support up to Rs. 50,000/- is provided for the purchase of components/ equipment towards project-related work.
  • Support of up to Rs. 50,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- is provided towards support to attend an International Level Conference for presenting the research work outside India and within India, respectively.

Application Process

  • Students can apply only through the online application portal. There is no provision for offline submission of application forms.
  • In case a candidate wishes to apply for more than one discipline, a separate application must be submitted for each discipline.
  • After successful submission of the application form, please save the application form. You need to furnish a hard copy of the application form and self-attested copies of all the relevant documents at the time of the interview.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Selection Procedure

  • For applicants having qualified GATE/ National Level Exams (CEED/ UGC (JRF/NET)/ CSIR/other equivalent) – Selection would be through the interview process by the discipline level committee.
  • For candidates not qualified in GATE/CEED/NET and wish to apply for IA category –
    • A written exam of three-hour duration (on GATE exam pattern) with two parts:
      • Part A will be common for all applicants consists of questions based on the quantitative and logical aptitude.
      • Part B will consist of technical questions related to the respective discipline.
    • Shortlisted applicants will have to appear for through the interview process by the discipline level committee.

  • Announcement of list of shortlisted candidates for written test/Interview: 5 June, 2025
  • Conduct of written test: 12 June, 2025
  • Conduct of interviews (only for selected candidates): 13 June, 2025
  • Announcement of list of selected candidates: 20 June, 2025
  • Date of confirming admission by paying non-refundable registration fees: 30 June, 2025
