IIIT Manipur PhD Admission 2025-26

Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur invites application for PhD admission for the July-November 2025 session, Academic Year 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

Engineering (ECE & CSE Discipline)

Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant area with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent) in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (55% marks or CGPA/CPI 5.5 for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates).

OR

Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum of 80% marks (or CGPA/CPI of 8.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent), or 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5 for SC/ST/differently-abled candidates.

Mathematics:

Master’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent) in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (55% marks or CGPA/CPI 5.5 for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates).

OR

Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum of 70% marks (or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent), or 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5 for SC/ST/differently-abled candidates.

English:

Master’s degree in English/Linguistics with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent) in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (55% marks or CGPA/CPI 5.5 for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates).

Physics:

Master’s degree in Physics with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent) in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (55% marks or CGPA/CPI 5.5 for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates).

OR

Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Physics or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum of 70% marks (or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent), or 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5 for SC/ST/differently-abled candidates.

Research Assistantship

The selected candidates are eligible for “Thangal Research Fellowship” of Rs 25,000.00 per month for a period of three years and have to stay in the hostel of IIIT Manipur during the period of PhD program.

Note:

• The student will be provided accommodation in the hostels and
• The Hostel and Mess related fee will be charged extra as per institute norms.

Selection Process

• Selection will be made on the basis of academic record, relevance of qualification, candidate’s research interest, existing research programs and facilities of the departments, and performance of the candidate in the PhD entrance examination based on GATE 2025 syllabus for Science & Engineering disciplines & NET 2025 syllabus for English; and interview conducted by IIIT Manipur.
• The exam will be conducted at IIIT Manipur, City Campus, Imphal. Valid GATE/NET-qualified candidates are exempted from writing the entrance examination; however, they have to appear for an interview.
• Travel Allowance: No TA/DA will be paid for attending written test and interview.

Application Process

• Interested candidates are requested to apply by filling up the prescribed form available at www.iiitmanipur.ac.in and sending it electronically to academic@iiitmanipur.ac.in on or before due date.
• Please note that there is a limit on the email size that can be received (20 MB), so please send your application form in the first email and the attachments in subsequent emails if the size exceeds 20 MB.
• Applicants are NOT required to send hard copy of the application form or any other document(s) to IIIT Manipur. However, shortlisted candidates who will be called written test/ interview will be required to submit signed copy of the application form and a set of photo copies of all certificates at the time of reporting. They also need to produce original certificates from HSC onwards for verification.
• Check list of documents to be sent along with the application:
  • Copies of SSC/10th Certificate and Marksheet.
  • Copies of Intermediate/ (10+2) Certificate and Marksheets/ consolidated marksheet.
  • Copies of Bachelor’s Degree Certificate and Marksheets/ consolidated marksheet.
  • Copies of Master’s Degree Certificate and Marksheets/ consolidated marksheet.
  • Copies of Provisional certificate / Degree Certificate and Marks Memos of the qualifying Examinations
  • Copy of GATE/NET/SLET score card.
  • Summary of research project conducted during the PG (or UG) programme, not exceeding one page.
  • Proof of research publications if any.
  • Self-attested copy of the reserved category certificate on the prescribed proforma and signed from the competent authority (if applicable)
  • NO OBJECTION certificate from the present employer (if employed).
