Gujarat University PhD Admission 2026-27

Gujarat University, Ahmedabad invites application for PhD admission in various disciplines for the academic Year 2026-27.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled and other categories of candidates as per rules.

Application Process

• Eligible Candidates can apply online through the official website.
• The candidates desirous to seek admission to be required to apply on the prescribed form online. Only those applicants, who apply online before the last date and satisfy the eligibility criteria, will be considered for admission.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on Written Test and Interview.

• Candidates are advised to contact concern Subject Department at Gujarat University for subject related and others query.
• Candidate who is applying for Ph.D. in multi/inter/intra disciplinary subject has to appear and pass entrance test in the subject in which he/she wants to take admission in Ph.D. For eligibility, see the subject eligibility list on the website.
• Candidate has to present Hall Ticket and his/her valid Photo Identity card at the time of examination.
• All questions are MCQs, total 100 (1-50 Research Methodology/ General Analytical Skill/ Mental Ability/ Reasoning & English Communication, 51-100 Subject specific). No negative Marking.
• Candidate must return back the OMR (Answer Sheet) and Question/Test Booklet to Invigilator after completing Exam and before Leaving Examination Hall.
• No students will be allowed to take Question/Test Booklet with them after examination in any circumstances. Otherwise it is considered as disqualified.

• Online registration link for Ph.D. admission: 25 August, 2026 (12:00 PM onwards) to 7 September, 2026 (until 11:59 PM)
• Online submission of form (no new registration and fee payment after 07/09/2026): 7 September, 2026 (until 11:59 PM)
• Physical submission of documents, Samarth form and category certificate, PH certificate, mark sheet/NET/GSET/GATE if any other documents at respective (concern subject) departments (for medical faculty at PG section, Gujarat University): 9 September, 2026 (in working days and office hours only, excluding holidays, as per morning & noon department)
• Display of provision list of eligible/ineligible candidates for entrance test or exemption from the entrance (tentative): 11 September, 2026 (04:00 PM)
• Report to concern department for any query or discrepancy in eligibility by the candidate, if any: 14 September, 2026 to 16 September, 2026 (in working days and office hours only as per session of PG department, excluding holidays)
• Display of revised provisional list of eligible candidates for entrance test or exemption from the entrance: 19 September, 2026 (after 04:00 PM)
• Download the admit card/hall ticket (tentative): 23 September, 2026 (after 05:00 PM)
• Entrance test for Ph.D.: 26 September, 2026 (12:00 to 02:00)
• Report of discrepancy in the question paper (in writing) at K. S. School of Business Management, Gujarat University: On day of exam till 4:00 PM
