Gujarat Technological University PhD Admission 2025-26

Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat invites online application for PhD admission for the academic session 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

Full-Time

• Candidates who have completed 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme having a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or its equivalent grade on a point wherever grading system is followed.
• Candidates who have completed a 2 year/ 4 semester Post Graduate degree programme with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (its equivalent grade on a point wherever grading system is followed) after a bachelor’s degree programme will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a full time basis.
• Candidates pursuing Ph.D. programme at GTU Schools on a full time basis will be entitled to avail various benefits as mentioned at Annexure II.
• Employed Candidates who have completed 2 year/4 semester Post Graduate degree programme with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (its equivalent grade on a point wherever grading system is followed) after a bachelor’s degree programme will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a full time basis working in any Degree College /Diploma College /University / Deemed to be University (recognized / accredited by appropriate bodies in India) / Units of Government or research staff of public/private organizations / industry or are sponsored by the respective employer will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a full time basis if they are fully relieved for the period of study.
• Employed Candidates who have completed 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme having a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (its equivalent grade on a point wherever grading system is followed) will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a full time basis, working in any Degree College/Diploma College / University / Deemed to be University (recognized / accredited by appropriate bodies in India) / Units of Government or research staff of public / private organizations / industry or sponsored by the respective employer, will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a full time basis if they are fully relieved for the period of study.
• FN/PIO candidates shall possess a Degree considered equivalent to post graduate degree
  • accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under law in its home country or
  • any other statutory authority in that country to access, accredit or assure quality and standard of educational institution. or
  • recognized by AIU

Part-Time:

• Employed Candidates who have completed 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme having a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (its equivalent grade on a point wherever grading system is followed) will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a part time basis and are amongst faculty members working in any Degree College /Diploma College /University / Deemed to be University (recognized / accredited by appropriate bodies in India) / Units of Government or research staff of public / private organizations / industry shall be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a part time basis.
• Employed Candidates who have completed a 2 year/ 4 semester Post Graduate degree programme with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (its equivalent grade on a point wherever grading system is followed) after a bachelor’s degree programme will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a part time basis and are amongst faculty members working in any Degree College/Diploma College / University / Deemed to be University (recognized / accredited by appropriate bodies in India) / Units of Government or research staff of public / private organizations / industry shall be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme on a part time basis.

Candidates who have appeared or are appearing in the final year / semester for qualifying Post Graduate degree examination and whose result is still awaited can also apply.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on Gujarat Technological University PhD Entrance Test and Research Proposal Presentation (RPP).

Exemption from Entrance Test

Candidates who have qualified any of the following exams shall be exempted from the entrance test in respective disciplines:

• Candidates who have qualified in the NET / SLET or other similar tests conducted by such Government bodies as UGC, CSIR, ICAR / ICMR.
• Candidates qualified GATE / GPAT/CAT/CEED during last five years.
• Candidates who apply through Ministries of Government of India/State or candidates under Cultural Exchange Scholarship Programme of Government of India.
• Candidates who are granted fellowship/scholarship from state/central government agencies for pursuing Ph.D.
• Teacher Fellowship holder.
• Candidates qualified under AICTE-ADF.
