Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, invites applications for admission to Ph.D Program for the year 2026.

Application Process

Application form has to be filled online through the link provided on the institute website www.drrmlims.in. and upload all documents and photograph along with self-attested copies of qualifications, experiences, publications award and caste certificate from UP government (if applicable) and any other relevant documents.

Candidates, who are employed, must submit their No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer, at the time of counselling. In case the candidate is selected for the course, he/she shall be given admission only if he/she has obtained the permission from his/her employer and the prior sanction of study leave for the entire duration of the Ph.D. Course.

Selection Process

Category of enrolment

• Category 1: Candidates who fulfil essential qualifications and have a letter of award for fellowship and contingency by any Government funding agency for a minimum period of three years.
• Category 2: Candidates who fulfil essential qualifications and working in an extramural project funded by Government agencies as JRF/SRF Research Assistant at RMLIMS. Extramural funding for PhD research work should be desirable but not mandatory.
• Category 3: Candidates having Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) directly from Government funding agencies and have applied through RMLIMS for work to be done at RMLIMS.
• Category 4: Candidates who are Non-NET qualified and wish to purse PhD on self -finance mode.

Candidates who have qualified National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC/CSIR are exempted from Dr. RMLIMS, Lucknow- PhD Screening Examination 2026 but shall have to appear for interview and counselling at Dr. RMLIMS, Lucknow

Ph.D. Screening Examination 2026

• Mode of Examination: Objective, MCQs based. Candidates are required to bring their own laptops (fully charged) for the online test, other electronic devices like mobile phone, tablets etc. will not be allowed.
• Number of Questions: 50
• Marks: Every single correct response will get 1 mark each. No Negative Markings.
• Medium of Examination: English

• Candidates are required to obtain minimum 50% marks to qualify the examination.
• Candidates who qualify Screening exam shall be called for document verification, interview and counselling.

Interview/Counselling/Document Verification

• Candidates who qualify the PhD Screening exam 2026, will have to appear for document verification & Personal Interview.
• In case the number of qualified candidates is large, the interviews will continue over to the next working day.
