Dr. Homi Bhabha State University PhD Admission 2025-26

Dr. Homi Bhabha State University, Mumbai, invites online applications for admission to the Ph.D. Programme in various disciplines offered at its constituent colleges/institutions for the academic year 2025-26.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have completed – A 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme, OR A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme, OR  Qualifications recognized as equivalent by the statutory regulatory authority(UGC) With at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade (A relaxation of 5% marks is permitted for reserved categories as per the Government of Maharashtra norms.)
• Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree with research (without Master’s) must have at least 75% marks or an equivalent grade (or 70% for reserved categories).
• Candidates who have completed M.Phil. with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade (50% for reserved categories) are also eligible.
• Candidates whose M.Phil. viva-voce is pending may apply provisionally.
• Foreign degrees equivalent to Master’s or M.Phil. will be considered if certified by an appropriate accreditation authority.

Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) Requirement

• Dr. Homi Bhabha State University does not conduct its own PET.
• Applicants must have a valid PET qualification conducted by any UGC-recognized university OR must be exempted under UGC regulations (e.g., NET/ JRF/ SET/ GATE/ INSPIRE/ M.Phil.).

Selection Process

• Admission is subject to availability of guides and vacant seats in the respective departments.
• The final selection will be based on performance in the interview and availability of a research supervisor.
• Reservation of seats will be applicable as per the government rules and regulations.
• Admission shall be provisional and subject to verification of eligibility.
