Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates in the final year of the qualifying examination may apply for PET. Admission is subject to passing the qualifying exam with the required minimum percentage.
  • Applications are valid for a maximum of three subjects/specializations per candidate. Separate application forms and fees must be submitted for each subject/specialization.
  • Candidate willing to appear for more than one subject / specialization shall submit separate forms with requisite fees. Paper I shall remain common for such candidates. Paper II and interview need to be attempted separately as per subject / specialization. Candidates qualifying in PET for multiple subjects can pursue Ph.D. admission in only one subject.

Candidates fulfilling the following criteria shall be eligible for DBATU PET 2025 –

  • A 1-year/2-semester Master’s Degree program after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program with Research/Honors or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s Degree program after a 3- year Bachelor’s Degree program or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. OR Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
  • A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree program as per NEP 2020 should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/DT-A/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D/ SEBC* & OBC (non-creamy layer if applicable)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
  • Candidates who have completed M.Phil. program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/DT-A/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D & OBC (non-creamy layer if applicable) / Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the State / Central Government / UGC from time to time.

Exemption from appearing in Written Test of Entrance Examination

Candidate/s fulfilling following conditions are exempted only from written test part of PET:  Those who qualify fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/NET- LS/UGC-CSIR, NET/SET /JRF / SRF/ ICAR/ ICMR/DET/DST/CEED, GATE, GPAT & similar National level tests with a valid score.

All candidates (exempted and not exempted from written test) need to appear in interview for eligibility of admission.

Admission Process

Candidate shall be admitted to Ph.D. program by a two-stage process through:

  1. Entrance Examination (DBATU-PET), which shall be a qualifying test. The Entrance Examination will be of 100 marks with multiple choice type questions through Paper 1 & Paper 2
  2. Personal Interview of candidates qualifying the Entrance Examination.

DBATU-PET 2025

DBATU Ph.D. Entrance Test will have 2 Papers:

  • Paper 1: Research Methodology and General Aptitude (50 Marks)
  • Paper 2: Subject Specific (50 Marks)
  • The syllabus for subject specific test is in line with UGC-NET/NET- LS/UGC-CSIR, NET/SET /JRF / SRF/ ICAR/ ICMR/DET/DST/CEED, GATE, GPAT & similar National level tests.
  • All questions shall be with multiple options & each correct answer carries 1 Mark.
  • The exam will be conducted in English for all faculties

Interview

Personal Interview / Viva-Voce: 100 Marks

Merit List

  • Candidate need to score minimum 50 % marks in Paper 1 & Paper 2 to qualify for Interview.
  • Merit list shall be based on composite score consisting of
    • (i) 70 % weightage to the total marks in Paper 1 & Paper 2 of Entrance Examination and 30 % weightage to the marks for the performance in the interview/viva-voce conducted by the University, and
    • (ii) For candidates exempted from written test as per Pt. No. 2: 70 % weightage for test score and 30 % weightage to the marks for the performance in the interview/viva-voce., conducted by DBATU.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/DT-A/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D & OBC (non-creamy layer if applicable) / Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the State / Central Government / UGC from time to time.
  • DBATU may decide the number of eligible students to be called for an interview based on the number of Ph.D. seats available.

  • Scanned copy of Marks Statement of HSC
  • Scanned copy of Marks Statement and degree certificate of Bachelor’s Degree
  • Scanned copy of Marks Statement and degree certificate of Master’s Degree (if applicable)

No printout of the application form or documents is required to be submitted prior to offer of admission to PhD Program. One set of photo copy of all relevant documents and original application form with NoC shall be submitted at the time of admission. Original documents must be presented for verification at the time of admission process.
