Cluster University of Jammu PhD Admission 2025 (July)

Online applications are invited from the eligible candidates for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Education, English, Geology, Zoology, Botany & Mathematics Departments of Cluster University of Jammu for the Academic Year 2025-26 (July 2025).

Eligibility Criteria

• Academic Qualification: Candidates who have completed a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory/regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
• Students whose final results in Masters or equivalent are yet to be declared can also apply. However, if selected, the offer for these students will be provisional, subject to their fulfilling the above criteria.
• Relaxation: A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as notified by the UGC and UT of J&K from time to time. (For such candidates, the Cluster University of Jammu shall follow NEP 2020/UGC guidelines issued from time to time.)

Admission Process

• Exempted: Only those candidates who have qualified for the NET (I, II, and III categories) /GATE/similar National level tests / SET examination in the concerned subject are exempted from appearing in the entrance test, but the candidates have to appear for the interview.
• Non-exempted: Only those candidates who have not qualified for the NET (I, II, and III categories) / GATE / similar National level tests / SET examination have to appear for the entrance test (conducted by Cluster University of Jammu). After qualifying the entrance test, candidates have to appear for the interview.

Entrance Test

Mode of Entrance Test: offline

The paper shall have the following components:

• Research Aptitude, Analytical and Mathematical/Statistical Component: 50 marks (Common for all disciplines).
  • Research Aptitude, Analytical and Mathematical Statistical component will be of 25 MCQs (Multiple Choice Question), each of 02 marks and thus total of 50 marks.
• Academic Component: 50 marks (as per PG syllabi uploaded on the University website)
  • The subject specific paper will be of specific PG Syllabi based on 50 MCQs of 01 mark each.

Note: The candidate should score atleast 50% marks in Entrance Test to appear in the Interview.

Interview

• NET (I, II, and III categories) / GATE/similar National level tests / SET Qualified as well as written test qualified / eligible candidates will be called for interview. The interview of the selected candidates will be conducted as per the schedule (kindly visit the University website time-to-time for any updated information).
• The interviews will be conducted through offline/online mode (on request for out-station candidates only)

Application Process

• The online application form for admission to Ph.D. programme in different Departments /Schools/Disciplines is available on the University website www.cujammu.ac.in and QR Code provided in the advertisement. The eligible candidates may visit the University website and submit the online application form.
• If a candidate is applying for more than one Department, then a separate application is to be submitted along with the application processing/examination fee where applicable for each application.
• The candidates shall be required to upload/submit the following documents along with the online application form.
  • Master’s degree final mark sheet and Certificate
  • NET (I, II, and III categories) / GATE/similar National level tests / SET Certificate (if applicable)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable).
