Eligibility Criteria

Subject to the condition stipulated in UGC Regulations-2022 and its subsequent amendments, the following persons are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. Program:

  • The candidates should have Master’s degree or a professional degree in the subjects, declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding. statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 10- point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation. Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose or assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates.
  • The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the category mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
  • The candidate.
    • Provided further that an M.A. or M.Sc. in Mathematics may be permitted to work for Ph.D. degree in Statistics in the Faculty of Science.
    • In the faculty of Medical Biochemistry, a candidate holding post-graduate degree in the concerned or allied subjects or equivalent degree of another University recognized by this University/having a post graduate degree with at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/ Differently-abled candidates) marks shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
  • Students appearing for final year or final semester of their postgraduate degree examination will also be eligible to appear for the admission process subject to the fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria in the result thereof.

Note: Candidates are advised to check their eligibility to appear for the CSJMU Ph.D. admission program. The eligibility will be verified at the time of counselling by producing original testimonials/documents. For any eventuality at the time of admission candidates will solely be responsible.

Admission Process

Candidates must have qualified at least one of the following national-level examinations for eligibility: (CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/ICMR/ICAR)

  • CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/Assistant Professor/Ph.D. admission only)
  • GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)
  • ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research JRF/Ph.D. programs)
  • ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research AICE-JRF/SRF or equivalent)

Candidates with valid certification/scores in any of the above are eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. program, subject to fulfilling other academic and institutional requirements.

Admission through Entrance Test:

  • An entrance examination (CSJMU Entrance Test -2025) will be conducted by the University for the admission of Ph.D. applicants in the fields of MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY and PHARMACY.
  • CSJMU Entrance Test -2025 will be conducted in OFFLINE mode at CSJMU campus Kanpur only.
  • A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme shall be required to secure at least 50% marks in CSJMU Entrance Test -2025.
  • There will be 5% relaxation in marks for OBC/SC/ST candidates i.e. 45% will be qualifying marks.

Selection Process

  • Assessment Criteria for qualified candidate through common test (CSIR-UGC NET /GATE/ICMR/ICAR) OR through CSJMU Entrance Test -2025 will be called for the interview and the final selection will be based on the Interview Performance (100% Weightage)
  • The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the University, keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory bodies concerned and taking into account the reservation policy of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh from time to time into different Vertical and Horizontal-categories viz. unreserved, reserved for OBC/SC/ST/Differently-Abled/General-EWS and so classified for each Department/Subject. The social category mentioned in the application form cannot be changed/modified at any stage.
  • Guidelines for conducting written examination (applicable subject) for persons with disabilities will be followed as defined in Rights of persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act, 2016) which came into force from 19-04-2017.
  • Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates of other states will be treated as general.
  • All original certificates have to be produced at the time of interview along with ID proof, two sets of Photocopies and two recent coloured photographs
  • Candidates are advised to consult frequently consult the University website for the official announcement regarding interview dates and times.
  • The overall merit list would be prepared on basis of marks obtained interview. This list would be displayed on the University’s website.
  • All admissions are provisional. University reserves the right to cancel any admission at any stage.

Application Process

The Ph.D. Application form has to be filled online for admission to the Ph.D. Program.

General Guidelines for Filling up the Application Form

  • The Online Application form will be filled by all applicants seeking admission for the Ph.D. program in any subject.
  • Before applying online, candidates are required to keep ready the following documents for uploading
    • Soft copy of colour photograph
    • Soft copy of signature
    • Category Certificate (if applicable)
    • 10th & 12th level Mark sheets
    • UG Mark sheet and Degree Certificate
    • PG Mark sheet and Degree Certificate
    • Mark sheet of previous semester(s) for candidates appearing in the qualifying degree exam
    • (CSIR-UGC NET / GATE/ICMR/ICAR) score card.
  • Applicants are advised to go through the eligibility criterion before filling the application form for Ph.D. admission. However, mere fulfilment of eligibility criteria does not give guarantee for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.
  • University shall not be liable for the correctness and authenticity of the information/documents provided in the online application.
  • The University has the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission for the candidate who is found admitted to a course to which he/she is not entitled, being ineligible in accordance with the statues and regulations in force or it is found that the documents submitted by the candidate are not genuine.
  • Merely submission of an application form, does not constitute a claim for a seat or admission to the Ph.D. program. All admissions are provisional. University reserves the right to cancel any admission at any stage.

In case of any matter relating to the Ph.D. admissions, the decision of the Vice Chancellor/Ph.D. admission Committee, CSJM University shall be final and binding.
