Eligibilty Criteria
- A candidate shall be eligible to apply for PET only in the Subject in which he/she has obtained Master’s Degree with at least 55% without grace marks in the respective subject. A relaxation of 5% of marks for reserved category will be applicable.
- Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme should have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree in the concerned subject by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or an equivalent qualification from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
Selection Process
- Selection will be based on Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) and interview.
- A final merit list will be prepared after interview/viva-voce (RAC) as per following criteria 70% of marks obtained in PET and 30% marks of presentation cum interview/Viva Voce (RAC)
Exemption From Entrance Test
- A candidate who has cleared UGC/CSIR (JRF), NET/ SLET/ GSET/ Teacher Fellowship/ BKNMU PET (during 13/03/2025 to 12/03/2026) holders are exempted from 2nd round of PET-2025-2026, but such candidates must apply online for 2nd round of PET-2025-2026. These candidates shall have to appear in the RAC for presentation interview/viva-voce.
- Exempted candidates merit list will be prepared after interview/viva-voce (RAC) as per following criteria:
- Candidates who are exempted from the PET examination, the marks obtained in UGC/CSIR (JRF), NET, NET for Ph.D., SLET, GSET,BKNMU PET or any other equivalent recognized examination shall be considered for evaluation. These marks shall be converted proportionately to a maximum of 70%. In such cases, the students’ original/obtained marks from the respective examination will be converted into the 70% component accordingly.
- In cases where the respective examination does not declare marks, the evaluation shall be carried out in accordance with the following criteria:
- Undergraduate (UG) Score – 10% of obtained percentage 10 Marks
- Postgraduate (PG) Score – 20% of obtained percentage 15 Marks
- M.Phil. Completion 05 Marks
- JRF: 15 Marks, NET: 10 Marks, SLET: 08 Marks 35 Marks
- Teaching Experience – 1 mark per completed year (Maximum 10 marks, applicable only to University-recognized teachers after JRF/NET/SLET) 05 Marks
- Total Academic Marks 70 Marks
- The remaining 30% weightage will be evaluated by the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) for both PET and PET-Exempted candidates during the admission evaluation process.
Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET)
- Paper Style of the Ph.D. Entrance Test will be as follow: The paper will have 100 multiple choice questions for all subjects. Examination time is 02:00 hour. (The Paper will be in Two Part Part-1 Research Methodology & Part-2 Core Subjective Paper)
- Total marks for PET will be 100 for 100 MCQs, each of them carries one mark.
- The qualifying marks for the Ph.D. Entrance Test will be 50% – in aggregate (Part-1 & Part-II). A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 50% to 45% shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/SEBC(non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates.
- There will be no negative marking system in PET.
- A list of the qualified candidates of PET will be declared on University Website.
- Validity of the PET and merit shall be only for the academic year 2025-2026.
- Candidates should download his/her Hall Ticket before three days of PET.
Application Form
You should have to follow the following instructions while filling the PET form:

- Fill the form with accuracy. Your name should be as per your Aadhar card.
- After filling up the form, save it and Pay Rs. 1500/- as PET processing Fee through payment gateway.
- Keep print out of online filled form and payment receipt.

- Use your user ID and password for downloading your Hall Ticket from https://admission.bknmuerp.in/
You have to submit two sets of all the documents i.e. marksheet, leaving certificate. Caste Certificate, Non-creamy-layer, EWS Certificate, Handicap Certificate, passport size photo etc, whichever is applicable, along with online application and fee receipt at the time of document verification.

The PET application form fee is Rs. 1500/- (One Thousand Five Hundred Only) to be paid online through payment gateway (Credit Card/Debit Card etc).
