Eligibility Criteria

Criterion for appearing in the Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT-2026) –

  • Candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme should have a Master degree with at least 55% Marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ on the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in point scale wherever the grading system is followed) in the subject in allied subject from recognized university.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks i.e. from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/ EBC/ BC/Differently abled categories of candidates.
  • A candidate shall be permitted to pursue research for the Ph.D. degree in the subject in which he/she holds master degree/in an allied subject from a recognized University. (Applicants from the allied subject will be awarded Ph.D. Degree in the main subject only)
  • Appearing candidates are not eligible for Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT-2026)

Exemptions from the written test of Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT-2026)

  • Candidates who have passed NET/JRF or have secured grants for research such as fellowship/scholarships offered by DBT/ICMR/ ICAR/DST/ CSSIR/ ICHR/ICPR etc. will be exempted from Ph.D. Admission Test.
  • Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor who have been appointed on substantive posts in the UGC Pay scale in the teaching Department of the University or Constituent Colleges of this University, who have completed their probation successfully, with an experience of at least two years of uninterrupted service would be exempted from the test. Teachers appointed on Self-Finance Courses and teachers belonging to those colleges running on self-finance basis will not be exempted from the test.
  • Non-teaching employees of his university, who have been holding substantive appointments for more than five years and have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree in the subject concerned and have published at least two research papers in any reputed referred journals or journals identified by the UGC would also be exempted from the test.

Note –

  • Candidates exempted from PAT-2026 are also required to apply online with requisite fee.
  • Candidates of exempted categories will have to appear directly before the interview board as per schedule, along with the PAT-2026 qualified candidates.

Syllabus/Pattern for Exam

  • Paper-I: General paper on Teaching and Research (As per UGC/NET Bureau guidelines.)
    • Total marks-100.
    • No. of Questions-50 (MCQs)
  • Paper-II: Subject specific questions as per UGC/NET Bureau guidelines
    • Short answer type- 5 questions (6 marks each),
    • Medium answer type -4 questions (10 marks each),
    • Long answer type questions- 2 questions (15 marks each).
    • Subjective type in the subject concerned based on syllabus of the post graduate course of the university.
  • There shall be no negative marking on any of the paper.

  • Candidates are required to visit University Website www.akubihar.ac.in and follow the PAT-2026 admission test link available on the main page of the website to fill out the admission application form.
  • The dully filled up and completed forms can be submitted online along with supporting documents and requisite Test Fee.
  • After filling the form online, candidates must also send the supporting documents to the University.
  • Applicants are required to visit the University Admission Portal and carefully read the Admission Notice and Eligibility Criteria before filling out the online application form.
  • The application form must be fully completed and submitted online along with the required supporting documents.
  • After successful online submission, applicants must send a printed copy of the completed application form to the University, along with self-attested copies of all required documents, as listed below.
