Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed through 10+2+3+2/ 11+1+3+2/ 10+3+3+2 pattern alone can apply
  • 50 % of marks for SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) / Person with Disability
  • 55 % of marks for all Other Candidates
  • M.Ed. (Education / Special Education) / M.A. Education is essential for Ph.D. in Education
  • Candidates who are in the final year / semester of their P.G. Degree may also apply for the Pre-Registration Qualifying Entrance Examination for Ph.D. Programme.
  • The Entrance Examination for Ph.D. Programme is Compulsory for all the Candidates (except NET/ SET/ GATE qualified) irrespective of possessing or not possessing M.Phil degree.

Entrance Test Pattern

The question paper will be in MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) pattern. The Standard of Question paper in Subject Knowledge will be at PG Level.

Pattern for all disciplines (except Ph.D. in Tamil Literature)

The written examination (In English Medium) has two sections:

  • Test of Research Methodology: This section contains 75 MCQs and is worth 150 marks.
  • Test of Relevant Subject Knowledge: This section also has 75 MCQs and is worth 150 marks.

Pattern for Ph.D. in Tamil Literature

The written examination has two sections:

  • Test of Research Methodology (Tamil Medium): This part consists of 75 MCQs and carries 150 marks.
  • Test of Subject Knowledge in Tamil: This section has 75 MCQs and is worth 150 marks.
